I thought he was the power when he was on the throne?

he is always the power even when he pretends not to be.

why do you think he went to expats? because he sensed it was going downhill. he went to save it. and he has.

This thought just jumped to mind, maybe the percentage of aid given has a little something to do with this?

only 24 percent per cent of Americans own passports

On average, more than 70 percent of Europeans and between 60 and 70 percent of Australians have passports

"And, really, it is embarrassing to think that a country which arguably holds the most influence internationally out of any country in the world has so few citizens that have actually seen that world about which they are creating policies."

Bingo! The country with the least international exposure of them all (Ethnocentric), is trying to dictate to the rest of the world.

My bet is that 85% of folks here probably could not locate Haiti on a map.

Scroll to the bottom for the relevant graphic-

Why would Australians care about a country located nowhere near them? Nonetheless, guess who help out the most during the Tsunami?

Anyway, the only reason you even care to mention Haiti is because those affected are black. Had they been white, you would not have given a ####### and probably cheered. Furthermore, based on your cough cough background (culture), how much did you donate?

The thread is about the Tsunami. The graphic at the bottom is about the Tsunami. The link may have haiti data as well but that is not the focus of this thread.

Work on your reading skills, little homey.

Aid comes in many forms, cash pledged is just one of them. Therefore, pledges vs actual support are two totally different things.

Here are the pledges:

# 1 United States: $902,000,000.00

# 2 Germany: $634,000,000.00

# 3 Japan: $500,000,000.00

# 4 France: $444,000,000.00

# 5 Australia: $431,000,000.00

Actual delivered ~

US: $794 million

Aus: $193 million

When factoring in population, the US would have to deliver $2.8 billion to meet what Australians donated.

So welshing on pledges is ok in your book?
