My Citizenship Interview Experience

I just completed my citizenship interview and oath ceremony today at the Pittsburgh, PA office and I will like to share my experience with everyone on this forum. My interview was scheduled for today (01/27/2010) at 11:00am. I got to the immigration office at 10:45am and waited only 15 minutes before I was called in by a middle-aged lady. At exactly 11am. My interview was over at 11:05am, this was only 5 minutes long. This is a RECORD in the history of US Citizenship interviews that I know of. The officer made me swear to tell the truth, then asked for my driver's license, green card and passport, then she went over the application forms briefly. After which she asked me a to read "To whom do we pay taxes?, then I wrote down "We pay taxes to the government" I was asked 6 civic questions (all of which I got right).

1. What is the freedom of religion?

2. Name on State that borders Canada.

3. When was the Constitution written?

4. When must all men register for the selective service?

5. What ocean is on the East Coast of the United States?

6. How many U.S. Senators are there?

I answered all the questions correctly and she said congratulations, gave me the N-652 form and told me to come back at 2:30pm for the Naturalization Oath Ceremony. During the oath ceremony, 5 new U.S. Citizens swore the oath of allegiance and that was it. Everything was completed today (January 27, 2010). Best of luck to those of you still looking forward to your interviews (I came a long way, but I'm glad everything is OVER now).

My N-400 timeline, I hope it will help - Local Office (Chula Vista Field Office - San Diego)

10/01/2010: Application was sent.

10/04/2010: Application was received.

10/06/2010: Email received "Application has been received" & Noticed Date.

10/07/2010: "Touch"

10/08/2010: "Touch" & Check was Cashed

10/09/2010: NOA1 Received via mail.

10/22/2010: Status Changed Online "Request for evidence" It was for Biometrics.

10/25/2010: Request for evidence recieved "Biometrics Notice".

11/18/2010: Biometrics date ==> 11:00AM. Biometrics was taken On time.

12/03/2010: "Yellow Letter" Received.

12/06/2010: "Touch" Case Moved to "Testing and Interview".

12/08/2010: Interview Letter received via mail.

01/13/2011: Interview Date. Done, " Thanks To ALLAH, I Passed the Test.

01/18/2011: Oath Letter was Sent.

01/20/2011: Oath Letter Recieved via mail.

01/28/2011: Oath Date. ==> Done, I am a U.S. Citizen

01/31/2011: Applied for a U.S. Passport Book, And, U.S. Passport Card.

02/25/2011: Passport Book's Received.

02/26/2011: Passport Card's Received.

02/28/2011: Certificate Of Naturalization's Returned.

Game Over.

Wonder if they will build a 3,000 mile fence between Canada and the USA, the poles would have to be at least a thousand foot high when going through Lake Superior. Wow, another field office with same day oath, how many does that make now? 5 or 6 out of 81? But congratulations, has to be a good feeling to get it over with.

Finally we sent our AOS and EAD paperwork.

09-13-2006 AOS/EAD package sent via FedEX to USCIS in Chicago.

09-22-2006 Received NOA by Mail for AOS and EAD

09-29-2006 Received Appointment Notice for Biometrics

10-04-2006 Biometrics done for AOS and EAD

10-10-2006 NOA by Mail Regarding Transfer to CSC

11-21-2006 AOS touched

12-06-2006 AOS approved (online status)

12-11-2006 Green Card Arrived - Woo Whoo

12-12-2006 Welcome Letter by mail

Removing Conditions I-751

09-09-2008 Sent Package

09-15-2008 Received I-751 NOA1 (Notice date: 09-10-2008)

10-01-2008 Received Biometrics Appointment (Notice date: 09-26-2008)
