It could - just use google voice on it's wifi connection. (you can access google voice via the browser now)

I'm due for a phone upgrade, wondering if I should buy the Iphone as everyone is saying what great apps it has, I'm really not into all that, just call and text and check email on my phone but would like a really good Scheduler on my phone. Any suggestions?

I think there is a place for it. But probably not for everyone. I don't use a smart phone very much simply due to the screen size. Its too small to do anything more than read short messages.

That said, i do think it has a couple of issues, no flash support (yet anyway) and not really any multitasking. Although I don't think it needs multitasking like a PC, but possibly the ability to switch easily between a couple of opened apps.
