If the medical comes back with any non prescription drugs (ie. canabis, coke etc) I do believe its a instant 3 or 5 year ban.

Nah, I think it just means you need to apply for a waiver, which takes a few months.

Hey Guys, thanks...

He had a caution and was never arrested...simply a warning but it is on his record. I am not overly concerned about that because supposedly all they take into account is that it was not within the past 3 years & also that the quantity was under a certain amount

We have an immigration attorney but she never advised us that there would be a urine test. She also said that at the end of the day it is up to the officer but they do frown upon it...i was just hoping to see if anyone had a similar experience. Anyone who has a med coming up be prepared to be given a urine test if they suspect anything from the series of questions they ask....

In response to the person who speculated that I had a trust issue, i don't even know what your on about...this has zero to do with trust but everything to do with anticipating and setting the expectations for the interview...

And yes, if anyone tests positive it is an automatic 3 year ban from the US (if it's a class A) and there are no waivers for that.

keep you updated on how it goes next week...

I know people have gone through with cautions and not had problems. Doesn't mean it won't be a problem however. It is also not without precedent for someone to be approved at the Embassy and then turned away at POE for something on their police report.

I haven't heard of urine tests being given at the medical though I haven't been paying attention to recent trends, so I can't recall anyone going to the interview with positive drug test, unfortunately. I suspect a waiver would be a certainty, however.

We didn't expect it either, not at all...the doctor asked him tons of questions and my husband was honest about his past and that is what probably prompted the test....but he had to be honest because I'm assuming the doc has access to the police report anyhow

we called for his med results today but got voicemail so basically we have to sit it out the next few days until his interview....gonna be a long weekend!!

The good news about getting bad news from the medical is that they will contact you before the interview if something is wrong. If you don't hear anything, well, no news is good news.
