I recently had my citizenship interview but was asked to submit documents to prove I lived in Rochester ny 90 days prior to applying for citizenship the reason was I had an ohio license, it would be great if you guys can tell me what documents would be enough,I know lease agreement and phone bill but what else

Well lease and phone bill should be enough - is the bill from 90 days ago?

Not sure if you're working but pay statement should also have your address on it. Rental insurance? Bill from doctor with the new address?

These are the things I would bring:

Copy of the lease agreement

Copy of any bill, phone, cell phone, cable, all kinds of utilities, etc.

Copy of a bank statement

Copy of a credit card bill

Copy of any mail you may have received at the address in question

You might want to ask your employer to give you a letter saying that you've been working in their company since you move to Rochester.

Hi Rohitsakp,

(Ok...I don't regularly post on vj....and I just read odd posts from time to time...but this post with 15+ exclaimation marks...and a reference to NYS got to me...lol...so I thought I would answer it....)

First of all, if you don't mind me asking, how was your interview experience? I'm curious to know, if it was anything like mine that I had earlier in 2009 Buffalo, NY....Can you post about your interview experience too?

Second of all, when is your oath ceremony? And where and when is it held? I'm curious about this too, as I would like to know how a traditional group ceremony is in the Buffalo, NY area (lol..I'm wondering what I missed out on here group-wise...very curious about that too...). Can you post about your oath ceremony experience when you get this done too (my guess is that your ceremony is in March or April..am I correct to assume this...)?

There aren't too many of us from the Buffalo, NY and area, so it would really help if you would post your interview and oath ceremony experiences here on VJ too! Thanks a lot in advance for further posting about such! It would help all of us here (especially us Buffalo and Area NYSers...)....:)

Ok...Now in answer to your urgent (times 15 exclaimation marks!) post....

Odd that you would have to ask to prove residency. So because of that, were you approved for your interview? Or did they mark something else on your interview results sheet? Were you given an RFE because of that? Did you submit any additional evidence?

For what I submitted as evidence and about my interview and oath ceremony experiences, you can serach my old VJ posts.....

As for getting a NYS license...Yes, that would help too....It's very easy, really. All you have to do is go to your local NYS DMV...Fill out an application form for a NYS driver's license or NYS non-driver ID card...Check off the box that says that you are transferring your license from a different state....Surrender your old Ohio license..Get a temporary license right away....And get a NYS license in the mail within 2 weeks....:) Very easy, really...I did that for my Canadian license transfer..and had no problems at all....

See my VJ timeline for more info....

PM me if you need more help....Nice to meet another fellow NYSer!

Hope this helps too. Good luck on you journey too.

Looking forward to reading your Buffalo, NY interview and oath ceremony reviews later on too!

Ok...I'm back to not posting anymore (or at least not for awhile)......lol....Good luck everyone!
