yep the good old days,lol

I'm certainly going to ask about it when I'm there. I figure I've got some compelling reasons for them to do so.

I can leave literally the day after I get my passport back. All I have to do is fill my car with boxes that are already packed, numbered and itemized...and VROOM. I'm on the road.

I just noticed the other day that I'll be passing within ten miles of Deadwood, South Dakota. My wife and I both LOVED that HBO show, so I figure I'll make a brief detour for a souvenir or two. :P

Hmmm... so no action on my tracking number yet! I know, it's silly but it'd be nice to know that it's at least moving. With the way that express post envelope works, you don't get a copy of what you actually wrote so, though my husband checked it and so did I, was it right?

also, did I write the tracking number down right? We wanted to take one of the number sticker off but even the lady at the consulate was like, yeah, don't know if we can do that...

Blah... I just feel wonky as I gave notice at my job today -- my main job and it feels like my safety net is gone -- what if the passport, thus visa gets lost? Gahhh....

Yeah, i'm a bit of a worry wart.

Thats really not compelling reasons,lol! I would say u have tickets to the capitals game on such a date and that requires for pick up of visa at 1500!! LOL

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

OMG! I love DEADWOOD! I saw all the episodes...I wonder where in the city they had INS office ;)

Yeah...isn't it a great show? :D

My wife found out that the town itself has a website...they have three "shootouts" every day...all of the hotels etc. have the name "Bullock" or "Hickock" in them... It's pretty cool. It's too bad I'm only going to have half an hour or so to spare there.

I -think- (theory, not proven hypothesis) that they do all the visa stuff on Mondays... so folks who interview during the week dont get their visas processed til the following Monday -- at latest. Then they are sent out that afternoon or the following morning.

When I interviewed (on a Friday), the guy told me I should get it by Tues pm or Wed am. Of course, I got it on Fri pm bec of stoopida$$ Canada Post. But the people who interviewed a few days earlier than me also got it on Tues/Wed.

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Green card received: March 18, 2011

Removal of Conditions:

GC Expiration: March 11, 2012

Documents sent: December 13, 2011

NOA-1 received: December 15, 2011

Check cashed: Red said yes when asked

Biometrics: January 25, 2012

Letter approving 10-year GC: September 7, 2012

Ah... the RELIEF, it is palpable! Just got an email from Canada post -- my tracking number has been entered. So, that means I got the tracking number right after all. That's nice to know before the weekend -- I feel WAY more confident doing all my closing down here knowing that my stuff is on its way.

THanks again you guys for letting me lose my cool a bit and rant and such...

Also..I am sending it to a different addy (same city...different house) so someone is home to get the mail...no issues right???

Yep, you can put any address you want...in the space for the sender the consulat will stamp their address so just leave it blank.

I have the same question. I am never home to get mail so I was thinking I can have it delivered to my work, is that possible?
