so here's the story;

i met the love of my life through a social networking site about over a year ago. I knew instantly that I wanted to move to California (where she resides) to be with her full time; going to visit her quarterly ain't cutting it. lols.

here's the other part; i'm a female and so is she and california hasn't legalized gay marriages which sucks. i don't have any degrees/diplomas just cause i haven't been much of a school person.

i really want to be with her and i'm willing to do almost anything to do that. back in october 2009 i applied for the Diversity Lottery and so i'm waiting for july to come around so i can find out my status.

i know there are some very helpful people in this forum and i just wanted some advice on how to be able to be with my girlfriend.

thank you for your time;

sam

A quick "google" gave me this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States...me-sex_partners which said that while same-sex marriage visas aren't recognised by USCIS you MIGHT (thought I don't know how) be able to get a visa to stay there for a while, just not with the same rights as a married spouse. I know that Iowa allows same-sex marriage however even given my husband there, I wouldn't be eligible (if we were the same sex) to have received a "fiance" or "spouse" visa because USCIS doesn't recognise it.

Good luck. As an aside, perhaps your country allows same-sex visas? I know Australia does, as well as de-facto (non-married couples) visas.

The only way for you to see her, is to apply for a tourist visa. If they will grant you a multiple visa that would be more great for the both of you.

USCIS will not honor you as couple eventhough the States where she resides recognizes same sex marriage.

Good luck!!

Wow talk about problems, even had my share of problems bringing my wife here, and I am a guy, we talked about different countries so we could be together. Still talking about that so she can bring her son here. If you two really want to be together, would start searching.

Can only dream about a time machine, wish we could go back 25 years and meet back then, what a life and family we could have of had together, but better to meet your mate than not. With a time machine, could venture into the future where the attitudes of people may be different, but maybe worse, who knows. I would start by looking at different countries, if you two really want to be together.

Having an advanced degree would help so you could be sponsored by an employer, but the way the job market is now, not much hope of that either, it sucks.

Very rarely, people are granted asylum in the U.S. if their home country persecutes them based on their homosexuality.

I've thought a lot about this issue because I have many gay friends from my time abroad who met their loves in other countries and weren't given the same chance to bring them over on a fiance visa like straight couples are allowed. Some northern European countries, I believe, are much more progressive in their immigration laws for gay couples.

There are organizations that can provide you with a lot of info:

Good luck!
