My fiancee of 2 years currently lives in the UK and does have her Residnet Permit with Settlement. But she is an Indonesian Citizen. I could go there at any time to get married, but not sure if we should.

Is it easier to get K3 or CR-1 Visa, or K1 Visa? We haven't started any paper work yet and we want to do it the right way first.

Thanks.

I'm very new to this site, so any advise I'm greatful for.

K3 is pretty much obsolete.

K1 . . . she gets an K1 visa, comes over to the US, the moment she "uses" her K1 visa it "expires." You then have 90 days to get married. Afterward you file for Adjustment of Status (AOS) at your own pace.

CR-1 . . . you get married in the UK. She then gets her CR-1 visa and becomes a Lawful Permanent Resident of the US pretty much after entering. No Adjustment of Status (AOS).

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Neither visa is easier to get.

The advantage of the K1 visa is that you can get started on the paperwork tomorrow, assuming you have met in person in the last two years- with the CR-1 you need to get married first, so there is an in-built delay of a few weeks/ months until you get that done.

The advantage of the CR-1 is it's cheaper, plus she gets a greencard upon entry to the USA, so can work immediately if that is a consideration.

Before you plan on getting married in the UK, make sure you can just fly over there to get married; I believe there is a special "fiance visa" for the UK too and foreigners cannot marry without one (or another valid visa). Another option of course would be to get married in Indonesia with all her family present.

Before you decide on the K3 or CR1, you should have her apply for a tourist visa to the US first. Keep in mind that both the K3 and CR1 are long processes so having a tourist visa to the US is handy in avoiding long periods of separation.

With that said, go CR1.

She is currently just a resident, but not a citicizen but she can get her citicizenship, but that could take a long time also. TY for the advise. :)
