Questions about Status and Interview!!

:help: My husband and I just received an interview date of Sep. 5, 2006.

Does anyone know how long after the interview that he should receive

his card??

Also, he came over on a K-1, we were married, then he applied

using the I-485. What will his status be if he is approved?

I'm sorry if this is a repetetive question but he was already

denied once for his employment authorization and I would just

like to get a little reassurance.

What conditions will be on his status?

Questions:

1. How long after the interview does the approval come or do they give you the card

at the interview?

2. What will his status be if he is approved?

3. What conditions will there be on that status?

THANKS!!!

Hi Alyssa,

Congratulations on getting your interview date! To answer your questions:

1) There is no definitive answer anyone can give for how long it will take for you to get your green card after your interview. Some people are approved right away and receive their card within a few weeks. Others have to await security checks or need approval from a more senior person before they can receive their card.

2) If approved, your husband will become a conditional legal permanent resident. His green card will be good for 2 years. You will have to apply to lift the conditions on your green card later at which point you will be issued a 10-year permanent green card. Basically, they want to confirm that your marriage is valid before issuing you the permanent green card.

3) I think I already answered this question. A conditional LPR is authorized to work and leave the US and return with their green card.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
