"How We Met" supplement for G-325A

I am the beneficiary, preparing the forms to send to my fiance, who will add what he needs to, sign everything, then send off the application.

I just now noticed (after printing out forms) that my entire description of "how we met" did not fit. It starts out "We met online...blah blah.." which I know in itself should be sufficient, even if the last part of my description ends in mid sentence. I do however have the entire description printed on a separate piece of paper.

1. Is it NECESSARY to reprint the form and leave that section blank, except for "see supplement.."?...then attach the supplement? (Yes, I can reprint, but I need to go use someone else's printer, which is an inconvenience at the moment.) Or...

2. Can I leave the form as is, and write across that section "see supplement" ...then attach the supplement?

3. If we attach the supplement "How We Met", does it need to be signed and dated by both of us, or just the petitioner?

Several points...

The G-325A is a general biographical form, and does not require any sort of "How we met" description or attachment.

The I-129F, question 18, does ask for a description and evidence that you've met the requirement of having physically met each other within the past two years. This has nothing to do with how you first met each other, or the progression of your relationship. This is to meet a technical requirement of the K1 visa. That said, you can provide a detailed description on a separate sheet of paper, along with your evidence. USCIS asks that attachments contain the petitioner's name, in addition to the form and question number that the attachment applies to. I also recall reading somewhere that they want the petitioner to sign attachments, but I didn't sign mine and didn't have any problems. You should write "see attachment" in the box for question 18, though you might also write a brief description in that box just in case your wordy attachment becomes "detached" from your petition.

Finally, you shouldn't be preparing any of the evidence or documentation for the I-129F, with the exception that you must sign your G-325A and letter of intent. This is your US citizen fiance's job. It is HIS petition to USCIS - not yours. Your time will come when you apply for the visa at the consulate.

Oooops, yes of course the question is on I-129F! Too many forms and photocopies spread across the table right now.

In the description on question 18, I have now changed it to "We met online and have since visited each other several times." We will attach the "How We Met" letter, dated and signed by the petitioner. We do have photocopies of boarding passes, passport stamps etc. as supporting evidence, all of which we will include with the application.

I do realize, as my fiance is the petitioner, that this is HIS petition to USCIS. However, we and I worked on the forms together during our Christmas visit, because I'm the one who has been doing the research here on VJ, and he's afraid of screwing something up. I took what we had done home with me to add finishing touches and my own photocopies of evidence. But I will be sending everything back to him so he can check it, sign where required, add his OWN supporting evidence, and then mail the whole thing off.

Thankyou for your reply.

Why not just write "I went to Canada on 1/2/2010 and spent two weeks with my fiancee Jane Doe. See attachment." The requirement that you're trying to prove is that you've physically met each other within the past two years. How you satisfied that requirement is what they want you to describe, and it should be from your fiance's perspective since he is submitting the petition. If you want to tell your love story in the attachment, that's fine. In fact, it might even help at the consulate stage to have this evidence in your petition package, but USCIS doesn't care. They just want proof that you've met each other in the required timeframe. The statement you've written above doesn't indicate that you've met within the past two years. I'm not saying your petition would be denied with that statement. If USCIS is satisfied with your evidence then the actual statement isn't really important. However, the statement you put in the box should at least answer the question being asked.
