You guys must have big fridges, I barely have anything in mine  - although I would say, of that list, I probably refrigerate half of those items.

As for cans, I never store anything in a can, only because I had food poisoning once and it was from a canned item - freshly opened mind you, but it still makes me wary of canned things.

Good grief - what an odd little thread :0 I need to get to bed

We keep everything except PB in the fridge I guess. It's funny because I never used to keep soy sauce or worcestershire in the fridge until I met my husband.

As for cans - the only thing I;'ve ever kept in a can was apple juice and that was way back when people bought apple juice in cans instead of cartons or plastic containers. They say it's not good to keep anything acidic in a can.....but my mum always used too and somehow we were never poisoned :)

Refrigerate everything buy the soy. That stays in the cupboard. I definitely store cakes in the fridge, otherwise its so hot here during the day that it molds in two days.

Chris laughs because I refrigerate Pepto-Bismol. I guess that's weird. . . . .

Cute poll trailmix! I'm interested in the responses. I think what I refrigerate is probably what my Mom refrigerated...and that's how I learned. I do know that what I refrigerate was a little different than what Gene refrigerated when I moved here. Sometimes I had no rhyme or reason for what I refrigerated and I'd ask him...why is this in the fridge? And he'd say...you're supposed to keep that in the fridge! So, I'd look at the label, and it didn't say anything on it about refrigerating it. So, out it went! However, sometimes I too wonder about what to refrigerate and what not to, so I look on the label to see.

I never keep anything in a can, but really, I hardly ever buyanything in a can, but anyway, I remember my Mom saying you couldn't...however Udella's comment about Apple Juice is true. We used to get it in a large can, and we'd punch the holes in it. (Had to be two, one larger than the other... )

Someone commented on jam? One time I opened up a jam (yes, it's preserved, for shelf life, but once you break the seal, or wax on top, it's not "preserved" anymore...) and put it in the cupboard instead by mistake. Well, we don't eat jam a lot, and when I saw it in the cupboard and thought, oh no! I took it out and it was all molded. Hence, keep it in the fridge! haha That's happened to me more frequently now that I'm menopausal...putting things in the cupboard that should be in the fridge and vice versa.

Have you ever tried to spread peanut butter that's been in the fridge?? No, I know some people do this, but not me.

I pretty much put anything from a glass jar into the fridge after opening it. Like all my oriental sauces, salsa, sphagehitt sauce etc. Also all condiments and ####### as well.

The only thing I sometimes keep in the tin is black olives after I open them, I put them in the fridge either in a bowl or sometimes in the tin itself, but that's about it for canned stuff.

I love putting mini chocolate bars in the freezer though unopended. Something about eating a nice frozen chocolate bar makes it so much yummier.

I don't like peanut butter at all, so not sure what I would do with that...

I too never used to refridgerate soy sauce, hot sauce or worcestire sauce but because of my husband we keep it in the fridge. When I was growing up we never kept that stuff in the fridge. We also never kept peanut butter in the fridge. Hubby tried to put it in th fridge one day and I told him that he could put everything else BUT the peanut butter in the fridge! Like Carla said have you ever tried to spread peanut butter that's been in the fridge on toast!?!? Doesn't work so well!! Hubby doesn't each much peanut butter so it's hands-off! We also keep coffee in the freezer (hubby) but that's because we barely drink it, too much of a trigger for me if I drink too much.

My husband's family doesn't keep soy sauce in the fridge, but it does say on the label to refridgerate after opening, I've checked!

Yeah, Marilyn and I had a conversation about Soy Sauce here once, it doesn't hurt to refridgerate it - but also it doesn't need to be refridgerated.

One thing I did change is keeping ketchup in the fridge, up until a couple of years ago I never did. Then my Son was staying with us and put it in the fridge. I said, why are you putting that ketchup in the fridge? He said oh you should, etc etc etc

So I got to thinking about it and I thought, hmm he is probably right, so now it is in there. However! I liked it a lot better when it wasn't cold lol

I actually refrigerate bread too.

I found out a long time ago that, if I don't I can't make it through a loaf before it gets moldy.

If I do, I don't have to throw it out.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

Yeah, I know people that have to do that as well. How annoying though eh? There is no way that bread is going to taste the same after being refrigerated. Have you tried freezing it? I keep English muffins and bagels frozen and then put them in the microwave for 20 seconds before toasting, and they're much fresher than if I keep them in the fridge.

Ohhhh I definatly put my bread in the fridge. I get a few or more weeks out of it that way. I was always throwing out bread because of mold before, and then my ex wife told me about the fridge thing and I was amazed at how un-moldy it makes it.

I don't notice a difference in taste actually, it's no different then when people make their sandwiches for work and then refridegerate it until noon time. At least I haven't noticed any difference, but then again I can't tell any difference between Kraft Mac and Cheese and Kraft Dinner from Canada either...
