CONTACTING SENATORS FROM CALIFORNIA

A month ago today I contacted Senator Boxer's office and requested assistance in getting some answers on the IMBRA delay and my petition in particular. At that time I was assured that if sent them the release form and description of the problem they would look into it and get back to me. Her staffer also told me that the senator was aware of the problem and was already working on it.

After waiting patiently for two weeks after submitting what they asked for, I contacted their office and was told that I would be receiving a letter assigning me a case number and a description of what they were doing.

After waiting not so patiently for another two weeks I again contacted her office. This time I was told that it takes at least a month to even be assigned a case number and a case worker and that after that they would look into the issue in the order that they had received it.

Okay, at this point my patience was totally gone and I proceeded to tell the staffer exactly what I thought of Senator Boxer and her staff (cant give you verbatum dialogue as would offend many people). Bottom line is that Senator Boxer's office staff is obviously former employees of the USCIS!!!!!!!

After having that interesting conversation I contacted Senator Feinstein's office and was told that they are actively working on it but that I couldnt talk to the staffer assigned to my case because she was down at CSC looking into numerous cases that they had received. The person on the phone couldnt tell me for sure that she was actually working on mine, but did say my file showed that she had the case and had opened it. Also told me to call back on Monday to see if she had any answers for me.

Okay so that was a little better.

Then I contacted my congressman, Bill Thomas and I was able to talk directly to the staffer who would handle my case and she asked me to fax her some more information (on what has been happening last few days) and that she would draft a letter for the Congressman to sign in next 2 to 3 days and then she would have that delivered to CSC to answer my questions. She also told me that it was worthless to try contacting USCIS as they wouldnt tell me anything (as if I figured they would) but that she would be glad to be my go between to CSC.

Now I dont know if she was just telling me what I wanted to hear but at least she "said" she would get me some answers and would not accept the standard canned, "It is being processed call back in 30 days"

Bottom line, this is my rant and statement concerning Senator Boxer's office staff. There is no excuse for them to take a month to just assign a case worker. The only exceptions they make is if it is life or death. Of course my comment to the person on the phone was "Does that include your death?" Probably not smartest thing to say but at least I got satisfaction of getting rid of that droning voice when he hung up on me.

I have been waiting for nearly two years to be approved for K-129F for my fiancee. Never would I directly or indirectly, imply a threat towards anyone in U.S. Government. Your name could pop-up at the wrong time and you will kick youself remembering such a deed. It is just not worth that simple moment of satisfaction. Hope no one knocks on you door with some questions for you unrelated to immigration.

I contacted Congresswoman Lois Capps at the Santa Barbara office and Maros Lazaro was very fast and very helful. This wasn't about IMBRA, but he called the Consulate the morning after I visited him regarding a 221g and called me at 8 am to inform me that my fiance was picking up his visa, which I already knew of course but he was so helfpul and fast!

I don't know if you can contact a congressmen's office that is not in your area but if you can then get a hold of the Santa Barbara office!

Thanks, I am giving Bill Thomas's office a day or two, and see what they can do. At least they were very pleasant and helpful. She said she could make call today but would more than likely get a canned answer. My request would be better served waiting couple of days for the congressman to sign the letter.

The letter I sent in was mostly about how CSC was handling the NOA2s since the IMBRA delay. My secondary question was about my personal petition.

I am really ticked that CSC has taken it upon themselves to change the rules after so many of us have waited 4 months. I am not pissed at the people that got theirs ahead of us, but I am upset that CSC can do things the way they have been.

dwar I have come to a finding on how they process.. go do a search on timelines, k1's, all service centers, with noa2's after 07/01/2006. You can clearly see they are approving them by country name (alphabetical, then beneficiarys name, then phase of the moon)

Could you make an appointment with Boxer when she is back in the home office? Maybe you could band together for other VJers to form the 'Califronia Citizens Coalition on Fair Immigration Processing' or some other lofty authoritative name and could request an audience with Boxer.

March 9 - filed I-129F to Nebraska

March 15 - NOA#1

June 1 - transferred to CSC

July 11 - IMBRA RFE back with CSC

August 3 - NOA#2

August 6 - touched

you filed in March..you got an RFE..and another it appears for the Marriage Broker thingie...you appear to be on track....so why do you need the assistance of a US Senator???

Do you have a problem??

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Seems you havent quite been following what's up at CSC.

Normally, it would seem like this petition was in an acceptable timeframe.

Factors of the IMBRA situation bring that into serious question for all that are pending.

Just a note: I was not sending in or asking any questions till after the 90 period was up. Then with lack of impatience I started calling and writing letters.

I just received the same papers you received from my Senator; I just mailed it off yesterday. The thing I want to mention is my attorney told me if I bug them too much they could put my case on hold. So I am going to back off a little while and see what happens. It is crazy we get punished for their lack. But she said they told her to only check on a case once every 30 days after the time period has expired.. Or they will put you on a 45 day hold. God I hope they did not do that to me…..

Removing Conditions

May 29 2009 - Vermont received I-751

June 01 2009 - NOA

July 13 2009 - Biometric

Oct 22 2009 - E-mail - card ordered

Oct 23 2009 - Received letter - approval date 10/19.
