If you're looking for work, stay away from sites like Craigslist. Try Careerbuilders.com or Snagajob.com. Some companys will ask for a credit check but any reputable company will let know that it is being done as part of a background check but there should be a disclaimer stating that. Just be weary of those that want you to provide that info.

There's nothing wrong with using Craigslist as a source for employment opportunities - even Google advertises positions on Craigslist. As with anything, common sense will usually keep you out of trouble.

My credit check was only pulled after I accepted the offer and gave my consent during on-boarding process.
