I need to buy some temporary medical insurance for my girl arriving in a few days

So many of these insurance companies are not clear on their packages, they say This is for visitors, and this is for immigrants, only the garbage for immigrants is a joke, it doesn't cover anything, the visitor insurance isn't too bad, but is a K-1 considered a visitor or an immigrant.

Which one did you choose, I just need a name or website or whatever, I just want a good plan for about 3 or 4 months. I'm tired of reading through all these plans

you choose for me

The US government considers a K1 to be a non-immigrant up until the time they are married and file for AOS. After that, they are considered immigrants. That doesn't matter to an insurance company, though. They can define "immigrant" and "visitor" any way they choose. You're going to have to read the fine print of the policy, or (better) ask the insurance agent or company.

If you have medical insurance through your employer, you should check into the "life changing event" criteria for your employer and insurance company. My wife was covered by my employer's medical insurance starting the day we were married. We were married the week after she arrived in the US, so I didn't really need to purchase any temporary medical insurance for her.

If she is from a country with universal health care insurance then she should check out buying travel insurance from her country first. The K-1 is a visitor according to USCIS but the insurance company will consider them whatever brings them the most $$$. ANY kind of temporary insurance will be extremely expensive and cover very little.

Check out your own insurance and see what is needed to add a spouse. Really, this needs to be part of your plan. Many people can't wait to get on an airplane and get their fiancee here to go visit Disney World or something. A lot of insurance companies will begin coverage for her the FIRST of the month after you get married. Good reason to have her arrive the 28th and get married the 31st (for example) which gives you enough time to GET HER SS number IN HER MAIDEN name before she unpacks her bags.

Every state is different, but here in Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield has a short term insurance (30-180 days) that covers anyone in the country legally, from the day the forms are post marked, so she could be covered from the day after she arrives, just include a photocopy of her visa in her passport. It's what we did when we first arrived and they paid out for the kids' various doctors visits no problem.

I found a plan that isn't too bad for emergency medical insurance in case anyone needs to know.

It's the Visit USA plan https://www.visitorscoverage.com it's ok for the K1 girls to get, they have another one that they can get, but it's junk, it's really a joke.

This one isn't too bad, they have so many plans but they limit it to visitors that are going back home, so finally I had to ask them what they had that I could get that was decent and they told me this one.
