Can someone pls help me calculate household size and also the amount necessary to be the sole sponsor of the beneficiary, my husband?

I am sponsoring my Mexican husband. We have one child together (9 month old baby), but my child has her Certificate of Birth Abroad so in the I-864 for question 21 I would put for

a. 1

b. 1

c. 1

d. 1

so my household size would be 4?????

And would I need to prove that I have at least $27,562? Can this just be in a savings account and still be good enough?

Am I doing this right or am I completely off?

There are three people involved, yes? You, your husband and your child. Therefore your household size is 3.

You need to have an annual income that equals 125% of the poverty level for a household of 3. If you wish to use assets (money in the bank), then you need to multiply the annual income amount by 3 (this '3' has nothing to do with the household size, btw), so if, for example, the annual income needed is $25,000, if you wanted to use assets it would be $75,000. I believe you can use a combination of annual income and assets, but assets always need to be 3 times the amount would be if it were income based.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Ok, thanks. I'm going to do only assets since I am a stay-at-home mom and don't have an annual income. So it's just that amount on the chart of 125% for a household size of 3 multiplied by 3, correct? Can one savings account be considered as my assets?

Why does it say on Question 21 to add up all the numbers to get the household size?

For the first part, of how many people am I sponsoring, the answer is 1. For the second, who am I NOT sponsoring, they've already put 1 for myself. Then the next is 1 for being married, and the next is 1 for having a dependent child. So my total is 4. Why is this so confusing to me? Someone pls explain.

Question 21 says : DO NOT COUNT ANYONE TWICE. So you don't put 1 for being married because this is in the part " persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit". So if you count your husband ONCE in "a" then you don't count him another time in "c".

Ok, so only put 1 in "a", 1 in "b" they already put, and 1 in "d"? Leave "c" blank even though I am married????

U left "c" blank even though you were married? Did you have any problems or questions of why you did so or is that the correct way of filling it out?

We did because I figure that because we are filing a IR1 the embassy knows already that I'm his wife and the person he is sponsoring.

I imagine that the C box is for sponsors who are sponsoring relatives other than their spouse.

I could be wrong but thats what my common sense is telling me.

The directions are clear: Do not count anyone twice. Line C is where you list a spouse that is NOT sponsored on the affidavit. If the spouse is being sponsored line C is left blank,
