K3 visa - Civil marriage and then religious/spiritual marriage

Hi all,

This may be specific for India-based applicants, but may apply to others as well. My wife (in India) and I met online last summer (June/July/August), courted through emails/phone calls/webcam chats for 2 months and then I went to India at the end of August 2009 and got married in a civil ceremony (Sept 2nd). Our marriage certificate date is Sept 2nd (registration is Sept 5th). I filed for my wife's paperwork back in October (I-130 date 10-13-09; I-129F date 10-23-09). We then had the "big-fat-Indian" wedding on Dec 2nd (spiritual marriage and all). I have evidence of all of these (photos, videos and all).

Question - will this be an issue during the interview process? Should I explain to the interview officer as to exactly how we met or just say that we got married in september and show all the proof of the civil and religious weddings? Has anyone gone through this? Would really appreciate some input on this. Thanks!

No problem at all. In many countries in Europe and elsewhere,y ou need to get legally married in a courthouse registry office separately from religious ceremonies, and they are often on different dates. Just make sure to put the legal wedding date on all forms!
