i am now married and will make direct filing at us cairo.

my wife has a 2 year old baby from previous relation in usa not marriage plus she is a muslim

she was not married before anyway,so when signing the contract and got it translated to english in cairo it was written as miss/xxxxxx as her name,iam asking is this normal? i mean how come she is a (miss) and she has a baby?

will this be a point of suspect at interview?

thank you

That should not matter to the US embassy.

If she is not married, then she is a "miss" - regardless if she has a baby or not.

Does she have sole custody of the child? Is there an court order from the father preventing international travel for the child?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

actually she has a complete custody,and the baby's papa is not concerned at all in her life,he just calls once in a while,no court orders from her papa or anything.

and another question please: they did'nt mention that miss/xxxxx has a child in the marriage contract?

is that fine too?

sorry for me to be so confused.

the marraige contract is between you and her not between you and her and the child........since your the one that will be immigrating the embassy will care only about you and her and i can see where they might ask how you feel about the child during the interview

dont worry it will all be ok

Miss = never married

Mrs. = married

Ms. = married but divorced

I don't think Ms. is used so specifically nowadays. I'm pretty sure it's used as a generic - in case you don't know if someone is married or not. I personally am married, but have kept my maiden name, and prefer to be addressed as Ms. instead of Mrs.

Agreed..Ms. does not mean divorced. I am an English teacher and in the books I use to teach, it specifically says that Ms. is unspecified. Many women prefer Ms., and if you don't know, you should always use Ms.

That being said, there is no rule for what age you are a Miss and what age you become a Ms.

I am also a Ms., because I have a hyphenated last name that I do not share with my husband. He is Mr. Jones and I am Ms. Smith-Jones -- there is no Mr. Smith-Jones so I could never be Mrs. Smith-Jones!

Sorry, this is devolving terribly off topic.
