So, we're all ready to go except for the whole passport photo thing. First of all, I've had limited success so far with even finding a place that will print US size passport photos ... and I'm a bit worried about the cost involved =\ Not trying to sound like a whiner here, but I need 5 photos for myself and we need 4 for my little one ... that's like $90 worth of photos. Has anyone had success with getting the photos taken professionally then scanning and duplicating them yourself? Or even what you did to get the photos in the first place? I've called Shoppers Drug Mart and London Drugs, both which told me they can't take them in 2x2 inch size.

Help, please!

Really??

I had my first set taken at a London Drugs, and the last set taken at a photo shop in Burnaby. Is there truly a difference between sizes? The documents I've read didn't make a distinction. My photos are 2x2 though. Hmm...hopefully someone else will chime in.

Uh...it's not "bullsh!t", ZansGirl... Probably more likely that the reps that Ali talked to didn't really understand the photos in terms of the dimensions.

No need to be rude about it though.

The girl I spoke to at London Drugs sounded about 14 so that could have been a problem with them -- When I told her I needed US size passport photos she said, "They different than Canadian? We only take Canadian passport photos." Alright, end of story. Shopper's Drug Mart was a bit more hopeful, the lady I spoke to there told me to bring in the "passport photo instructions" (the instructions on my packet say: passport style photos, 2x2 inches ... and it ends there) and she'd try and help me but no guarantees.

No..I meant Bs to London Drugs....I mean why would it be different from one city to the next?? I wasn''t trying to be mean at all or rude. I understand her concerns as one place I went to wanted 20 bucks and it would take 4 hours...It makes me a little choked that people take advantage of others who need these photos.....it is bad enough we are running from one place to the next without getting conflicting information from the same chain of stores....that was all..

Please accept my apology Dan and Alli...the BS comment was solely intended for the person who told you 2x2 could not be done. Ad my apologis to anyone else who might be offended...in future I shall keep such comments to myself

Okay, I just double-checked, and mine are indeed 2x2.

I would actually go in to a London Drugs. If not, there are several places in malls etc. that do passport photos. I'm sure you'll be able to find one in Vancouver at Pacific Centre, though I understand if you don't want to leave it THAT last minute. :)

Yep, we had ours done at Costco today - they take all different sizes (Can passport, Can PR card, and the 2x2 - it wasn't described as being US passport sized, though, just the size).

Super cheap - $6.99 per pair (same for all sizes), and done in about an hour, but it might've been slower because they were quite busy. :)

Also great because you don't have to stand in the cash register lineups! :P
