I am about to do my taxes for 2009 and was wondering if I should get a TIN # for my wifey and include her on the return. Or should I go ahead and file it as I normally would since she is not here? Anyone else wondering about this here?

Suggest you file a paper return, 'married filing jointly', get a w-7 form, file all to the address in Austin.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I've thought about this... but in my case, I'm thinking of filing after the wifey comes here and gets an SSN (sometime end of March). Since you're just starting off with NVC, it would be good idea to go ahead and get the ITIN # for your wife and file jointly. Best to ask a tax professional regarding this...

I dont get why people here are always on my case and being mean and rude to me. I think i rather stop posting here. I just post so i can help people and they can help me, but i seems everything i say, someone has a problem with. So i rather not post any more.

Dear, you should never stop posting. never stop being yourself and remember, the easiest way for someone to feel big, is to make others feel small. We're all in this together! Take care, and good luck! :)

I filed as "married filing separate" which is pretty undesireable. I didn't want to file as "single" and have immigration see that, but he wasn't in the country for 09 so he's not filing anything obviously. Depends on your tax situation and doesn't she need a SSN before you can include her?

I usually file as Head of Household since I support my parents here.

I wonder if I would be able to include my wife on it that way since she does not have a SSN. But the IRS will provide you with a ITIN if you submit a IRS form W-7 which is an application for ITIN for non-resident alien.

I was right. They are about 7 business days behind. Mine was mailed on 01/30, Saturday, around 2:30AM EST. The IV bill hasn't been invoiced yet though. Hopefully, will happen in a day or two.

Yohino--yours is coming soon!

Folks--so I think it's safe to say that you can email in your DS3032 as soon as your NVC case # is assigned. Might save you valuable days. :)
