wait, is proof of citizenshiop even necessary? i haven't seen it in ling ches wiki or anything??

Find out if she could use secondary evidence for US citizenship such as hospital birth certificate etc..

I HAVE A FRIEND THAT HER HUSBAND IS USING AS A COSPONSOR HIS MOTHER AND THEY SEND A RFE TO HER HUSBAND REQUESTING THIS:

Checklist for I-864A (filed by CIPRIAN, HIRO )

NVC has reviewed the financial evidence submitted. However, additional information is required to

complete the financial evidence review. The checklist below indicates missing or incomplete

documents. In order to make corrections you will need to download a new form at

www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov. You will need to complete and submit a new form with the changes

noted below. Please provide all requested documents and refer to page two for mailing instructions.

NO YOU NEED TO WAIT FOR THE CHECK LIST BECAUSE IT WILL HAVE A BARCODED THAT IT MUST BE SENT TOGETHER WITH THE NEW FORM AND WHAT THEY REQUESTED

Proof of citizenship/residency is mentioned on the I864 itself for the joint sponsor. Alright, this thread is dead as a dodo. Let's move over to the March 2010 NVC thread, good folks. :)

ok, so i'm currently having a minor heart attack. Mother in law has informed me that she does not have passport or birth certificate!!!

please advise as to what will be sufficient to prove US citizenship for joint AOS sponsor! ta

If Mother in Law is a US Citizen, by birth in the USA -

the county courthouse , where she was born, can issue 'certified copy' of birth certificate to her.

She would have to find out the exact process from THAT COUNTY COURTHOUSE to PURCHASE a 'certified copy'.

She can certainly TELEPHONE the courthouse, and inquire.

In other places in USA, it might not be at 'the courthouse' -

instead - it would be at:

1. vital statistics office

2. office of official records

3. county registrars office

it varies.

However - lets assume, for the moment, that she really is clueless for 'how to do this', ya?

FIND OUT THE NAME OF THE CITY for where she was born - and then

YOU do cross-reference on the county name for that state,

then YOU contact the county clerk's office, and inquire on 'how to get certified birth certificate', then pass that info to yer mother in law.

If she was born in foreign country, sorry - no clue.

Yah but sometimes its delayed. Like for me i always got my bills, case complete around 9-12am.

Good Luck!!!!

Don't forget to print the 'paid' notices from the online payment portal.

Keep the printout in a safe place.

Ya never know, you might need it for something, if any problems later.
