NVC Febuary 2010 Edition!

I'm sure this was asked at some point in this thread but it's so big that I thought I'd just ask again. We just got to NVC on Friday so we're in the document collecting phase. I have two questions:

1) Is it better to get the 2009 taxes done and put on 09, 08, and 07 for the I-864 or should I do 08, 07, and 06 and have 09 ready for the interview?

2) I understand that we will need to send in the original translated marriage contract but will they want the original one in arabic too? I sent in a copy with the original petition.

I'm sure I will have more questions soon but I thank you in advance for the answers!

I have more and more questions now about NVC steps while reading this forum.

1. About DS 230: I have noticed some of you have sent this form filled out back to NVC just day after you have received it? Isn't supposed to be filled out by the beneficiary? How did you guys get this form to filled out and sent to NVC just in one day? My question is did u r spouse filled it in advance and signed it and then you mailed it once the IV bill is paid?

2. Police Report: Do we have to send the police reports to NVC or to the embassy? I am confused.

Ok, I'm going to try and answer as much as I can.

1)Friday was Maha Shivratri in India. Embassy could've possibly been closed because of this.

2)I emailed my DS3032 as soon as I got my case number which possibly saved me a couple of days. It was accepted without any problem. (To be on the safe side, I emailed/snail mailed it again once it was officially generated.)

3)Mike -- So excited for you. Hope you have a hassle-free POE.

4)Metro--Ohmygoodness!!!! Congratulations. So happy for ya! Looking forward to reading the review.

5)You can use either your IRS tax transcripts or the tax returns which must be backed up with the W2.

5)Police certificates HAVE to be sent to NVC. Your case can't be completed before that.

6)I couriered my completed DS230 package to my husband as soon as we had our case number. Our IV bill cleared in less that 12 hours so he printed out the cover sheet and overnighted the package to NH. That's why you see only one day there.

7)Deep--Yup. Told ya. Don't stress about it. So it was a false RFE? Or do they want you to send in another AOS packet with the barcoded sheet on TOP this time?

8)Good luck this coming week to everyone else waiting for news.

9)Gina--So far I've been good with the AVR and not abusing it. I don't plan to call too many times, maybe on Wednesday to see if all our documents are inputted. I assume I will go crazy once we have our case complete and waiting for the interview date.

10)Yes, send in your original Arabic marriage certificate. Someone got a RFE for that.

11)You can do your I864 based on the 2008 stuff and add the 2007, 2006 stuff. Provide the 2009 stuff for the interview. Unless your 2009 income is much more than your previous years or you can avoid using a joint sponsor, then it might be worth it to wait and do your 2009 taxes first.

Just got our NOA2! Looks like we are the newest members of the NVC Feb bunch. We got approved on 4th Feb but didn't receive the hard copy until today the 16th and haven't gotten an email saying they received it, should we have heard something or am I shooting the gun?

Congrats and welcome to the club!! You can call the NVC automated system to see if your case number is loaded by now. If it is, talk to an operator and give them your e-mail addresses.

As Scott said, call them as soon as NVC opens, 730AM EST, and see if your case number has been uploaded. Talk to an operator and then give them your email addresses. You will need name/dob/email IDs of both petitioner and beneficiary.

Get all your documentation ready for a smooth ride through NVC.
