Hello everyone :)

My boyfriend is American and I'm Canadian. We are going to do the K1 visa due to the long delays in Montreal.

I'm wondering if anyone is doing the K1 visa ??? How long is the wait, for an interview for the Vancouver office??? Also will I be getting a copy of NOA 1&2 forms in Canada or does it only go to my bf in the US??

Also after we file the K1 visa, can I go visit him for a few days??? Or even go shopping in Seattle??? These maybe silly questions but I'm new to all this.

Thanks for your help ;)

The waits in Vancouver are usually about a month to 60 days, so not bad at all :D He will be the one who gets the NOA1 and 2, but he can scan and send you a copy if you would like. All the stuff up to it getting to the consulate goes to the USC and then all the correspondence from the consulate goes to you. Once you file you can go to visit for sure, make sure you bring proof of ties to canada (rental agreements etc. You can do a search for proof of ties on this forum and you will find a lot of info about visiting while paperwork is pending).

Best of luck to you for a smooth and speedy journey!

Which consulate your petition goes to in Canada is based on where YOU, the CANADIAN, live. That isn't clear to me from your profile. If you set your country to Canada, the Portal link at the top has some good links in it specific to Canada. Also check out the Canadian Wiki which says that if you live in Manitoba and west then you go to Vancouver and if you live in Ontario and east you to go to Montreal. Lots of other useful stuff on the wiki though. Good luck.

Yes, please note, it's where YOU live, not which Embassy you'd like to go to. If Montreal is backed up, which it looks like it's finally clearing up...you'll still go to Montreal if you live east of Manitoba. Sorry.
