John Edwards is the prime example of a sleazy ambulance chaser, turned Politician.

I'm much more troubled by what he did in public, and how the via the Medias cover-job, this guy could be running the country right now. (Some how Barack starts to look more palatable)

I was stunned that more democrats couldn't see through this platform of -running down America to elevate himselfism.

Which only applies to politicians, right? Or do you in fact employ this phrase in all walks of life. You never trust a CEO, work colleque, friend who has had an affair? How does that work? Do you refuse to work with someone who's sleeping around? Do you refuse to buy products from companies who's CEO dips his wick? Do you shun friends who can't keep their pants on? perhaps you missing the word "promise" honey. politicians make promises, all these examples you gave do not involve promises. when working with someone, that person never made a promise to me. when a friend of mine can't keep his pants on, he didn't promise anything to me. never has a CEO made a promise to me.

Here in recent memory we have two political leaders (Clinton Edwards) who greatly reduced the effect they could have made in the areas they claimed wanted too, all because they valued sex with a younger woman more than the causes which they claimed they cared so much about.

And it wasn't just a "moment of weakness" which might be more understandable, these were on-going.... nearly out in the open affairs.

Now you can bel;ieve....if you want that these type of people really do tend to put The Country... and the welfare of others first, but i'm doubtful and any time we see indications a person is -not on the level

we should not ignore it.

I might add, loyalty to ones personal commitments is a testament to "one" character a president should possess, however that alone does not make a good president.

It's not a matter of finding the more "moral man for the job" it's a matter of finding someone you can trust who is capable.

FDR had Lucy Mercer, and quite possibly Missy Lehand.

FDR cheated on Eleanor. He was, in my mind at least, the greatest President of the 20th century, and among the top 4 of all time (Washington, Lincoln, Jackson being the others). I would say that he did an admirable job in keeping his promises to his electorate, who re-elected him a record 4 times.

There are all kinds of implicit promises, few have to be enunciated. For example, your boss promises to pay you every week for the work you perform. Would you believe he would not pay you if he had an affair?
