AJ - I was awake and it was fine. I was kinda worried about it but I felt nothing. The only thing that kinda hurt was the shots he put in the roof of my mouth to numb it there. After I was sore but didn't really have any pain. No sense in paying for the anesthesia if you can't feel it anyways. I only took 2 of my vicodin.

One thing I just remembered is that the surgeons informed me that 2 of my wisdom teeth were infected. They said I would have more energy but I didn't notice. They are tough teeth to clean (and especially difficult to floss). It feels really good to have them out and I highly recommend getting the operation.

My sister had two lower ones pulled 5 days before leaving for studies in the US. They were impacted and pushing on the molars causing pain. An oral surgeon came to her dentist's office to do the procedure which took a total of half an hour. She was given a shot around each tooth to be pulled and let to sit until it set in. Then he pulled them out and then put in maybe a stitch (dissolvable) into each hole. She was on a liquid diet for a week - lost 5 kilos in that time. Sent home with antibiotics for first couple of days and some pain killers.

i have all 4 removed. i was stubborn and refused to remove when i was a teenager and it messed up my bottom teeth, the 2 bottom front ones when the teeth was coming out. i think if your wisdom teeth are out and not bothering you, there's no need to take them out

Did you do it yet AJ?

I had 3 out in the Navy and one after. All local anesthetic, no pain and no missed work.

I had an implant put in last week under general with no pain or missed work.

I had all four out when I was about 20. Had it done at the University of Michigan Dental School by a student. 1/2 price that way. Local anesthestic. He talked about basketball with me and I barely noticed him taking them out. I believe a few were impacted. Afterwards, took Vicadin and was so happy I decided to go out for a shrimp dinner, which was a mistake. Don't eat any hard foods. Then just drank milkshakes for two days and put ice pack on cheeks, alternating every 15 minutes for swelling. Wasn't that bad really. Excuse to take it easy! Vicadin is the key.

No  Shortly after this posting this thread, I gave myself the excuse that I'll do it after I return from my 2-week trip to India. Well, I've been back over a week now and ... I've been trying not to think about it.
