I assume recovery is more painful?

But of course, because you are so doped up during the procedure....I was give a prescription for Demerol and nembutal, to be taken one hour before arrival at the office. Cloud nine comes to mind....

I assume recovery is more painful?

I was referring to after waking up, the next hour or 2, and through the next week.

After waking up and for the next hour or 2 I felt like I was a walking zombie. It was fun. I recall I had to hold a napkin of some sort to my gums because of bleeding. But little blood and no pain. The bleeding stopped after 30 minutes or so.

That same night I went to the gym and ran 4 miles.

I had no pain at all. I didn't need the vicadin. I could have worked the next morning no problem.

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

You can drive after taking that?

That sounds like when I got my gums deep-cleaned. I had no feeling in my face, I was bleeding/drooling (weird mix) and didn't know until I saw the puddle on the floor.

In 2005 I was having pain in the top right side wisdom tooth area. Found out that the top teeth on both side were coming down, sitting straight, and the bottom wisdom teeth were sitting sideways pushing the other teeth they were against. In 2005, I had the right side top and bottom taken out. Was out a week due to the pain meds and pain.

This year May I had the left side taken out. This year was worst for me. They put me to sleep but not fully asleep and I heard them talking and working on my mouth but I couldnt open my eyes, kinda felt like a horror movie. And I got a dry socket which was VERY painful. Out a week and a half from work.

Atypical...Most of the people I know, did have issues, especially with impacted teeth that needed to be "hammered" into pieces for surgical removal. Personally and in hindsight, I should not have been awake for the procedure...but the drugs were great...

Was that because they didn't use enough drugs to knock you out or was that by design?

Well back in 2005 I went to a different Oral surgeon and was fully put to sleep... once out I knew nothing until I woke up.

This year at a different office, I have no idea really what was the issue. I felt my eyes shut and my body get warm, and I kept thinking to myself that I wasnt really asleep yet, then I heard the doc tell the nurse to hand him something and felt him inside my mouth but I couldnt open my eyes. I started making a mumbling noise to them and said STOP! and this year I bled alot afterwards.

I assume recovery is more painful?

Not for me. I have had two root canals and wisdom teeth extracted, not at the same time of course and each and every time, I ended up flusing my pain medication down the toilet because I had NO pain after the procedures. I can't explain that, but during the procedures my hands would be squeezing the arms of the chair so tight because of fear you could see my finger prints in the dentitsts chair.

You weren't knocked out?

yes, and gave me more medicine. It only calmed me down and I couldnt speak anymore. But I still heard them and felt them inside my mouth.

had the lower 2 cut into quarters to remove them - army dentists didn't get all the fragments, so i had those working out while in the school. bleh.
