Good luck to those of you with upcoming interviews. It's barely been a week since I had mine, and it's all still very surreal. I still don't think it's quite hit me that we were approved.

I know no one wants any delays with their approval, but if it helps, try to remember you're more likely to be told to send in additional documents than you are to be completely denied. When I was at the interview, there was a couple who were applying for their K1 and they seemed to be missing/didn't know they needed half their application. The staff helped them full out paperwork and forms like the I-134, DS 230 etc, accepted whatever evidence the couple did have (where appropriate) that could be used and were overal, very helpful. Unfortunately, I never did find out whether they were approved or not, but seeing them struggle through their interview day (and seeing the embassy staff go out of their way to help as best they could) really made me feel a lot better about having my interview whilst I was waiting to be called.

All the best to you all though!

Good Luck indeed! I'm getting really excited about just filing the I-129F. I know it's gonna be anti-climatic, but still can't wait to FINALLY embark on the journey.

I've spent most of the w/end compiling all the bits and pieces that I can to ship off to the fella tomorrow. I know we London folk tend not to need too much by way of proof of ongoing relationship, but I've still included 6 photos, screen shots of our yahoo archive (which only covers 2009) and am picking a couple of chat logs to throw in (without any.. erm, personal stuff! lol) I've also got 7 sets of itineraries, boarding passes and luggage tags covering the trips we've made to and from each other over the past couple years.

I can't imagine trying to do all this without VJ. That poor couple! Even knowing you're all here as a resource for information, advice, reassurance and support I keep have little 'Panic!!!' moments.

Now I'm just looking forward to the weather warming up so I can start doing car boot sales of all the bits and bobs that I need to get rid of: toys, games, books, random bits of equipment like the hamster cage, picture frames I've never used, exercise equipment... once we're nearing to moving, I'll start selling off bigger items like bed frames, dining table and chairs etc, kitchen equipment, probably by putting an 'open house' sale notice in the local paper. I know I could just contact a couple of local charities that collect furniture for needy families, but I really need to turn as much of it into cash as I can.

Yay!! Can you tell I'm excited? lol..

The problem with the whole visa application process is that there is no one in a official position who you actually go to and ask about problems/delays/questions, etc. Oftentimes, I've felt like I'm just sending my stuff into a black hole and hoping for the best. That's a pretty lonely and frightening process to have to go through, at times.

I remember when my fiance and I first decided we were going to file for the visa. After visiting him in the U.S., I knew marriage and immigration was the next step for us and our relationship. But, when we first looked into this whole thing, it was just terrifying. I thought "This is impossible!" and wanted to lose hope there and then.

I wasn't lucky enough to find visajourney straight away, but I did a few weeks after the initial "shock" of trying to figure out the whole visa system had worn off. We'd compiled most of our visa petition by then, and had resorted into each paying about £20 for an immigration and visa book (which, at this point, has turned out practically useless and out of date compared to the much more in depth and specific information that can be found here at VJ). Once I found VJ though, my confidence with dealing with the whole visa application grew much stronger. I think it's only thanks to this place that I was able to even cope with the huge stress that is both the medical and the interview itself.

I really felt for that couple at my interview, who clearly did not have a clue. And it made me feel so much reassured to know that I have VJ to turn to. And, even now my visa is approved, I still get a lot of benefit from VJ, because my visa journey is certainly far from over yet.

For those that are nervous about their interviews, the fact that you are reading this topic, and know about the vast amount of information and resources that VJ offers gives you a much higher chance of getting through the interview day without any problems. And, as I think I've said somewhere on this forum before, even if your application is not quite right, they're more likely to give you chance to send in what's needed rather than issue an immediate denial.
