I'm with the Colorado Attorney General, investigating fraud in the credit counseling & debt settlement industry.

Some of the defrauded consumers' stories are heart-breaking. Very, very rewarding to get restitution for them.

I was a public servant in the UK (investigating money laundering, proceeds of crime and tax evasion with HMRC), but frankly in terms of job satisfaction, this is the best I've ever had. Hopefully I'll stay with this department until I retire in 25+ years time.

Just got hired for my first job, I start orientation next Monday :D

I am going to be a Guest Services Coordinator for Universal Orlando. It's a whopping 50+% pay cut from what I got in my last job in the UK...but after 5 months of unemployment it will feel like riches, and although it is an entry-level position it is one where I will have to use my brain a lot. It's a start, and a start is what I need - cos from there I can show them I'm awesome and move forward!

Very excited - one step closer to moving out of my in-laws place....

I work for a major bank here in the US. I have never worked at any financial institution before, and my degree is in Archaeology, but it was a job opening and I needed a job. I definitely don't want to do this forever, but at least until my husband finishes college, it's something stable where I can continue to get promoted pretty rapidly and earn decent money.

I have been in the US a little over a year. I really didn't think it would be so hard to find a job.

The job I worked for 19 years in the UK was basically useless where I am living, so I had to start literally from scratch.

I am now working in a trophy and award store as an engraver. I love it and although it pays a lot less than my old job, it keeps me busy and makes me some money...I'll be hanging on to this for as long as I can :)

Seriously. The higher up management pretty much sucks where I'm at too. But I guess the bigger the company, the more opportunity for stupid people to be found working there. :P LOL!

Started my first job here 3 weeks ago. I work part time in a daycare....so far from my field but the kids are adorable. The biggest plus though is that its at the top if our neighbourhood so its a less than ten minute walk and u can't walk anywhere here!

It'll do for now :)

hi all- I enjoy reading the posts and congrats to everyone finding jobs. I have a question and thought posting here I might get some answers. My husband will be moving to Oklahoma from Egypt. He has a high school diploma and some college in psychology which will not transfer to the US. He had polio when he was small so he walks with a limp. I am trying to get some input from others regarding what may be a good job for him. I have exhausted my brain trying to think in this and I know he is worried about it too. He wants to find any job when he gets here then go to college for a degree. Any help, suggestions, advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks ~ Jennifer

Hi!

I got my EAD July 9, applied for SSN July 11, should be here by July 19. I am going to start work for a pre school/ day care on July 18. It's a $9/hr, 5-6 hours/day job (1-6PM) Mon-Fri. On Sat and Sun I have $10/hr babysitting job (no tax) for 7hrs. I tried applying for Walmart to work in the morning even for 4 hrs but they said I am over-qualified. Of course I am!hahah!I don't care. I live in a small town so hiring in human resources would be like 1 in 10000?hahha!

I have 9 years of human resources management and 2 years of teaching work experiences with US companies in the Philippines. I have a degree in Psychology and done with all my academic requirements for my MA in Industrial Psychology with only the thesis pending. But I am a pragmatic person. Anything that would be legally giving me $$$ that I know I like to do...working with kids is my love so am going to be fine. Still, am on the lookout for HR jobs in Bedford, IN or in its neighboring towns/cities. I don't drive yet cuz I no DL..waiting on SSN. :)

There is no menial job, just menial mentality - author I can't remember.

Good luck to all of us!

I arrived here in Texas Oct 21, 2005. Decided not to worked for a year... just enjoyed spending quatility time with my hubby and his family... (also shopping here and there... lol.)

My first job was working at Bealls as a sales associate (1 year) like it.

Second job working at the hospital (1 year) hate the night calls out. It pays good though.

Third job working at home health care. I really love this job and I really enjoyed it. Stop working just 4 days before my baby was due. I really missed my job sad.gif .

Fourth/current job... the most and very rewarding job. Stay at home mom for about four months now. Taking care of our little Princess is priceless!

What a lovely little angel you have there.
