School Receptionist was my first job. After a couple of months I requested if I could work in a classroom as an assistant teacher (since I have the experience back in the Philippines), it was granted after a month. Still on the same job until now for almost 2 years.

My first job was as a Proctor (at a Test Centre). I was there for almost a year, then we moved into our new house.

My second job was for a City and I worked in Domestic Violence. Couldn't take it and only lasted one month.

My third (and current) job is as an Optical Technician and I have been there for 3 1/2 years.

Since i came as a student, my first job was at the college cafeteria. I also worked at the campus convenience store, and was a math tutor for the last 2 years. Somewhere in the middle I was a mechanical/thermal engineering intern at HP. Still waiting for a EAD now...

Meanwhile I am going to volunteer at the local animal shelter. I wish I had though of that sooner and the last two months wouldn't be as boring.

Working back home I was in Library Services for 21 years. Last position held was Assistant Librarian. First job I got in the US was a cashier at a truck stop (nobody was hiring at the local library). Did that for 4 years, 2 years into it I was offfered assistant Store Manager. Having eyes and ears I knew how they treated their Managers and politley declined.

Second job I landed by fluke. Was working at Temp Agency in different state, job was for a week, did so well they hired me first as a data entry clerk and then trained me to become payroll clerk. Been doing this now for 2 years!

I've started looking for a job 2 months ago and still nothing. No feedback , no phone call...There are not so many jobs in my field ( I worked as an archivist so far) and each day I wonder: should I apply for other jobs which are not in my field and for which I'm overqualified or should I still wait....I have pros and cons for each of the situations and I only end up wasting my time in front of the computer and no solution ...Should I compromise? but won't this have a negative influence on my resume? My ex-boss advised me just before leaving: aim high! but how long should I do this?

Frankly, Cloudy9 scared me because she used to be an Assistant Librarian - a field so close to mine but for which there are more openings than in mine. ( at least here in MN)
