Yeah, don't bring it.

They'll just hold it downstairs if you really really want to bring it, but I don't recommend it... don't make the security guards mad

Yup, they're big on electronics. I forgot that I had a USB key and they kept it until the interview was done.

Don't take your little keychain thing for the car too, you know the one that locks the doors with a button?

We had ours held in security.

No big bags, NO electronics. When I went thru, they wouldn't let a guy in with his remote control for his car alarm! You go thru airport like security, so you dont want a lot of metal on ya

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

What does the little automatic lock thing have to do with security? Maybe my fiance' will unlock his car while he is gone inside? Thanks for the heads up though, I will definitely tell him to leave it in the car or at his friends place where he will stay when the time comes.

I'm no bomb expert, but I assume it would be really easy to detonate a bomb remotely with a small electronic device that looks innocently like a remote car opener (or garage door opener).

I will make sure my fiance' leaves it FAR, FAR AWAY from the consulate. Definitely don't want to make the guards upset. I think when interview day comes, it will be stressful enough!

Personally, I believe I will be laughing a lot like I did during my wedding. I have a weird defense mechanism.

I did the same thing at both ceremonies! I think I hit him with my "flowers" (they were plastic and silk "borrowed" from the Court House because my best friend would not let me get married without holding some sort of flowers) during our first ceremony, then at the second one in the DR, the woman couldn't pronounce my maiden name right, then said that my husband was born in 1921 instead of 71 and those two things combined just started the laughter and very very big smiles.
