Sorry to disappoint, Froggie, but the truth is that I never had a shag carpet, nor did I ever sacrifice a goat. Yep, I'm pretty straightedge.

My family's cabin has multi-coloured shag carpet in the bedrooms though. THAT'S no joke.

I'm gone for a few days and I come back to all this exciting news! Congrats on all the CR-1/IR-1 and K-1 interview dates! Looks like Montreal is starting to get their stuff together.

You wouldn't believe how many houses/townhouses Bill and I looked at that had shag carpet in them! Some were only 2-5 years old too... I don't remember shag carpet being fashionable in the last 5 years... or the last 15 for that matter.

Exactly! And I love driving. I mean...driving for fourteen hours in a day isn't quite as lovely, but it'll still be a helluva trip.

If I wasn't aiming to make it in three days, I'd also take a bit of a longer detour (~30 miles or so) to see Mount Rushmore...but alas, no. I'll keep reading my road atlas to see if there's anything else noteworthy along the way though. I was actually just doing the math earlier today, and if all goes according to plan, I'll probably be in Deadwood right around lunch time. I think I'll actually stop and have lunch there.

I *may* be able to coax my wife into logging in to VJ and posting a few "road reports" for me while I'm driving across. That might be fun.

Go for it man. I plan on driving to Arizona when I'm in your shoes with the approved CR 1, which is a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time for now but it is indeed an adventure and I look forward to it; probably be three days to drive from BC to AZ

Question for everyone doing EP: Are you taking all orginals + photocopies of documents sent at NVC stage for interview OR only originals since the Consulate already has the scanned documents?

I'm bringing originals of everything I filed and then some. It doesn't hurt to have too much information at your fingertips.

I'm just bringing the originals of everything...and I DO mean everything. Plus a scanned copy of the passport, just to be on the safe side. Basically, everything I've sent to them, I'm also taking with me in its original form. I even made a point of getting another birth certificate, given that the one I had initially used was a copy of the actual birth registration...not the official certificate.

I've got a file folder full of documentation already...and it's sure to grow over the next four and a half weeks!

Just curious as to the answer about the Xpresspost envelope: what should one put as the "from" address? The address of the consulate, or...?
