 Good one Jim.

Where's the O/P anyway?

I'm right here :)

Since my return from Vietnam a couple of weeks ago, I have been so busy putting the finishing touches on my I-129F that I barely have time to do much of anything nowadays hehe.

Anyways the trips to Vietnam went very well. I was never in any danger while I was there so I am officially finished being afraid to go there :)

This old thread got brought back to life and has taken a turn way off topic.

Let's keep comments on topic.

I believed its very on topic, it might not relate back to the Op's post, but its in Vietnam Region. It seem Moral value and personal accountability is not cool anymore with Saigon girls these day.

I was also a bit worried for my first trip to VN. Everything turned out good. Now I cannot wait to go back :)

The first night I stayed with Thu at her parents house but after that we stayed at a cheap hotel very close to her home. Overall it was really good and I felt relaxed right away. On the visa application form, I just put Thu's home address where she lives with her parents and it was not a problem at all. Like I said. I can't wait to go back now hahaha :)

This old thread got brought back to life and has taken a turn way off topic.

Let's keep comments on topic.

Roger, here are a few quotes from the first page and then one from the third page, yes the topic might have gotten slightly off track, but it is far from "way off topic"

If I do stay in a hotel, would it be better if I stay alone? I dont know if its good to have a person of the opposite sex stay with me in the hotel either. What do you guys think?-----Carl

There is 1 legal aspect. In VN it is against the law for a foreigner to stay at the home of a VN woman without the government being notified-------Scott

According to VN law, it is illegal for a foreign national to stay in a hotel room with a Vietnamese national of the opposite sex. This law is meant to curb prostitution.----Jim

I was sharing a house in HCMC with 4 other foreigners last year. Two of them had their VN girlfriends living there. One friday night at about midnight the cops decided to come and see who was living there. They were actually very nice about the whole thing. They took copies of our paaports and registered us all. They told the girlfriends that they would have to come in to answer a few questions, but it never happened. The landlord did have to pay a visit though. $$$-------- Mr. Saigon

If you are in America and they are in Vietnam it is hard to have sex, yes there is internet and phone sex, but not physical contact. SO without sex you are forced to find other reasons to remain interested in your partner, thus in "theory" you will be building a better relationship.-------Jerome

This is about where to stay and what can happen, if you stay with a Vietnamese national of the opposite sex. In my post I clearly talk about the benefits of a long distance relationship. Yes slightly off topic, but if people come after only chatting for one month or two weeks and then stay with the woman, what is going to happen? They will more than likely have sex, there was also a comment made by Mr. Saigon about green card scams, I left that part out, but in truth on short courtships of a month or less, or even two, and in some cases up to a year, the woman might use sex to "hook" the foreigner into falling in love with her, people all across the globe know most men think with their second head, thus creating more green card scams. Clearly my post was more focused on the reason that a long distance relationship was better in building a true relationship since the sex was usually left out, and you would be forced to find real reasons to want to continue to communicate. It was also made to help the people going through a long distance relationship explain one of the many reasons to the people that might frown upon such a relationship. If you got that or not it is up for speculation, but if you read the post clearly as I told Mr. Saigon it was not intended on picking any type of fight, but to voice my opinion on things that I see going on, not only in Vietnam, but all across the globe. I do not see any personal attack to anyone in this thread, it was simply his opinion on what has become of some of the Saigon women these days, and to some people it is still a custom that they do not share a room until after they are married. All of this is on topic in my opinion 100% I also feel where I got "way off topic" as you put it that it was still on topic by at least 50% if not more since it was talking about staying with a woman of the oppisite sex, and the possible implications, maybe not related to the police comming to your house at midnight and causing the landlord to go pay a visit $$$, but still there was an affect. About the TOS violation, I think that plagarism would fall into that very quickly, and if you read some of the responses, the one where that happened should be looked into, and then his clear reply trying to bait me into a response is another example of a CLEAR TOS violation. Hmmmm, I think I can do that too. It should be Friday, not friday, and I think it should also be passports, not paaports. Maybe you should read your link as well. I just try to refrain from being childish like you so I tend to let grammar mistakes go, but I will make an exception this time. Jerome
