Has the fee increased been approved? I havent seen anything that its official? Can anyone send a link?

You dont need a new medical if your VISA medical is within a year of your AOS. You do need your vaccines transcribed....but that is no where near $600. Your medical should be in the brown sealed envolope that you hand over at POE. Some people have been having issues- but you just have to write back saying they got it at POE- you can do a new one if you want- but its NOT NEEDED....

Thanks!

Sorry, I was a bit 'unclear' in my previous post.

One isn't paying for a 'new' medical exam in USA - but paying for the 'updating' at a Civil Surgeon, prior to filing the AOS package.

I still say budget 600 usd for this.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

My husband and I probably spent close to $5,000.00 for the entire process (including travel costs, etc.) up until now... Our next step is the ten-year green card I believe, so it shouldn't be too much more expensive after this... If you're able to, I would set aside at least $5,000.00 for the entire process, more if you're able. I am the USC and did not have a steady decent job when we were working through all the stages of immigration, so the financial aspect was the worst for us... It's an extremely stressful process to begin with, but when you're low on funds too, it's just ten times worse. It's worth it in the end though :-)

By the time we're done we are thinking close to $5000 as well. That's figuring in even the gas for running around, the running back and forth to the post office, the documents you have to track down, long form birth certificate, police clearance, etc. The filing fees for each thing $455 to file, $1010. for AOS the medical $300, the vacc trans. after you arrive for AOS, for us was a little over a hundred, airline tickets, hotel for a couple nights, meals during travel, trip 3 hrs away for biometrics. 14 hr drive for medical....each person is going to be different. But anyone filing for K1 just the fews for USCIS and medical without travel is close to $2000 gone. Everyday I wake up beside my sweetie is so worth it though.

If the US Consulate in your country is a significant distance from where you live, be sure to budget for the trip to the Consulate for the interview. In Canada there are a lot of places that are a long ways from either Montreal or Vancouver :) My interview trip ended up being a solid $500CAN for airfare and 2 nights in a cheap hotel, plus the lost income from a day off work, over and above the interview and medical fees.

As an Aussie I'll answer this:

K1 petition fee (the I-129F) = US$455

Medical = depends on your state. At least AU$300, plus immunisations. Mine was AU$400. Cannot be claimed on medicare or insurance. Totally out of pocket.

Police checks = depends on your state. Here's the link: http://canberra.usembassy.gov/consular/vis...ertificate.html you need fingerprints so it's AU$131 if you're in Vic, that's what i paid. Yes you will need to get one in NZ and SHOULD be able to do it via mail. You'll need to look at their page here: http://www.police.govt.nz/service/vetting/...nal-record.html

K1 Visa fee = US$131 at the moment, but it takes about 3 months till interview so you will get the increased fee of US$350. This will need to be paid in AU so when you get your info they will TELL you the amount in AU.

So to here you're looking at US$805 + AU$431. That's at a minimum. I didn't include your NZ police check, and I assumed a minimum of $300 for the medical, it'll probably be more with immunisations.

That's all before you enter the US, after you enter the US and get married, you will need to adjust status, then 90 days before your greencards 2 year anniversary you will need to remove conditions. Then if you want citizenship that's another fee but that's after 3 years of marriage, I won't bother listing that.

Adjustment of Status = US$1010, there has been some gossip about it going up by 50-100% so only time will tell

Removal of conditions = US$545

All up, at current levels you're looking at a minimum of: US$2360 + AU$431

Then you still have flights (I found a return ticket to be cheaper than a one-way so just check all options), the wedding itself, photocopying, flights to Sydney for the K1 interview (unless you live in Sydney), accommodation perhaps if you have an early interview in Sydney. As said above loss of income for the day (I'd take an annual leave day if you can). It's definitely not a cheap process. There's other little things here and there like getting your photo taken (in US passport size) which I had $10 for 4 in a photobooth, printing evidence etc.

Please check out this thread for Aussies: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=183541 it's just where we all get together :)

Congrats on starting the process. You're looking at around 6 months (possibly more, possibly less but not by much) till your interview from time of NOA1.

Hey Allamericankiwi,

Kiwi here too and lived in sydney. I travelled to US as many times as you have before. I spent more money

travelling back and forth, so don't worry about the cost of all the process.

Did you get you police clearance from NZ yet? Best to do that now. It's free too, here's the link:

http://www.justice.govt.nz/services/get-a-...lication-forms/

and get you vaccines updated as much as you can... way way cheaper over there.

if you have other questions just message me and I may be able to help.

goodluck

I actually just wrote this up for my own personal knowledge a few months ago. This is in American dollars on a K1 fiance visa.. obviously some things will cost more or less in some cities and you may or may not need additional vaccinations like I did..

I-129F filing fee - 455

police record - 65

medical - 360

interview - 135

HPV shot (one dose) - 160

TDAP shot - 45

notarized copy of divorce decree - 10

new birth certificate - 30

postage/photocopies/faxes - 20

one way flight to USA - 200 (super sale!!)

USPS/fedex/baggage fees for my stuff - 400

marriage performed by county clerk - 30

marriage license - 90

AOS - 1010

... being with my soulmate: priceless. (lol?) Again, that's just what it ended up costing ME - it varies a lot from person to person. As far as I can remember, that's everything. Though you also have to consider 3-6 months of being unemployed upon entering the US. We were okay living only on my husbands income but I was fortunate to find a part time job 3 months after I arrived here. Hope that helps you at least a little bit. Good luck!

Wow, the laundry lists of all these costs of bringing in a Mail Order Bride are making my head spin.

THis is why I say that the man should have around $10K USD CASH MONEY, in the bank the day that his princess arrives. Everywhere you go, you will need to pay double, and she will need some new warm clothes, cosmetics, furniture, insurance, foods, car, insurance, school, cell phone and service, etc...

You get the drift. If you are counting every penny while getting her here, you are NOT ready, so keep saving and wait until you can do it right. A princess deserves NOTHING less! No Broke-as-a-joke blokes need apply!

I reckon that the total cost of my K1 was around $20,000.

But if you move countries it is going to cost.
