Hello everyone,

My husband and I had our AOS Greencard interview today. We were so nervous in the morning, but it wasn't that bad at all! It actually went smoothly. The only thing that we are confused about is that they kept my husband's EAD card after the greencard was approved...they also didn't give us anything except a paper saying that he had been approved. Now after going through some forums, I hear that maybe they should have stamped his passport for a temporary greencard?

My husband came in on a K-1 visa in July and we received the EAD and AP in December. The interview was today, in January 2010. The EAD was valid until December 2010. I guess at the time we were nervous and relieved to be approved, but now I am wondering how he can get a job if say his greencard does not come in 2-3 weeks?

Thank you for your help!

This is normal.. You will probably have his greencard within a week. I wouldn't worry about it! Congratulations!

If he gets a job offer before he receives his green card and needs to prove his eligibility to work in the US, he can make an infopass with the local USCIS office and they will be able to give him an I-551 stamp in his passport that will be effective until the green card arrives. Hopefully the green card will be in his hands very soon. It is quite common for them to take the EAD card as he no longer needs it to work.

Oh, and congratulations!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
