Well one reason is that birth control is now readily available in many different forms and there is something called the morning after pill which also is readily available. (and it's not just the morning after, up to 5 days after)

1) The MAP is best effective within 3 days of the unprotected sex, even though it's theoretically good for 4-5 days.

2) Like all other forms of hormonal birth control, the MAP is sensitive to antibiotics. The most common antibiotics significantly reduce the effectiveness of all forms of hormonal-only birth control.

3) Even if you do it right away, it's only good if conception hasn't already taken place.

The MAP does not eliminate the need for abortion, just reduce it.
