Hello VJ,

My fiancee got an email from the Lagos Consulate stating that he should come back February 22,2010 to present the additional documents listed on the 221g that was given to him January 14. But our petiton expires February 9 2010. Is that going to be a problem? If so how can the embassy extend our expiration date?

Your expiration date is null and void at this time as soon as the Consulate starts processing. Do not worry about the experation date. It gets extended automatically when the process begins at the embassy. My experation date is 020210, his interview is 021610. So Relax. :star:

The expiration does not matter, insomuch as the consulate started processing it. It is highly recommended for you to be present with your fiancee at the interview date. You already demonstrated to them how serious you are by sending your current passport to your fiancee. However if I'm not mistaken one of the requirements for K-1 is to have met in person within 2 years before the time petition is submitted. Though in very rare cases they do approve without meeting. As a US citizen you can walk into the US embassy in Nigeria easily. All the same I'll be praying for you and your fiancee, because I can honestly understand what you are going through now.

VISA APPROVED!!!!!
