My husband was the one who took care of my plane ticket. He booked it online from PAL. It's easier coz we just printed out the e-ticket. Good luck and congratulations!!!

It's an older law, and it says the ticket used to fly from the Philippines must be issued in the Phillippines. This is the paper ticket.

You can purchase her e-ticket, she will get the actual paper ticket at the airport when she's leaving. You just can't purchase an old-style paper ticket and mail it to her.

I've read some sources that say it's not allowed by law for a foreigner to book someone in the Philippines a ticket out of the country? Is this true? Anyone have any experience booking their fiance a ticket to the USA? Please help!

This is NOT true. In fact I did the booking from the US of my wife's ticket to get here, but just in case, I did a letter stating that I had used my debit card and did indeed book the flight. Now I did read somewhere on the net in 2008 that carriers in the Philippines had received a slap on the wrist from the FCC for not allowing a passenger to board because the ticket had not been purchased within the Phillipines. So in a nutshell you have nothing to worry about.

You may book a flight for your fiancee but to ensure that there is no problem at check-in you need to comply with the following airline requirements:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

To protect the true credit card owner, we require presentation of the credit card used in purchasing tickets from this website at the ticket collection point or upon check-in. If the credit card owner is not part of the travelling party and is unable to present the credit card, CLEAR photocopies of the front of the credit card and the valid PHOTO ID of the credit card owner shall be required from the passengers at the ticket collection point or at check-in.

It shall be the responsibility of the credit card owner to ensure that the passenger(s) comply with this requirement otherwise the passenger(s) shall be denied boarding.

This requirement was something I could fax in with the particular booking service I used (CheapOair.com). They sent this requirement and a form to fax in with the photocopies of my id and credit card with the confirmation email for the flight.

I blacked out the middle two sets of numbers so only the first 4 and last 4 were legible to protect against possible identity theft.
