I also look at Effects of Family Changes on Immigration Benefits when I come to VJ. But lately I've become so jaded by what I read there usually about divorce and wanting to remain in the USA or abuse.

What about you?

I have a couple of threads in Off Topic that I follow, but mostly I stick to the Canada forum. Some threads in OT get WAY out of hand.

Of course, I sometimes check out CR1 and K3 to see if there is anything that pertains to me there.

I used to get around on VJ, but yeah...lots of what I see elsewhere appalls me, so I mainly stick to Canada forum. Sometimes I'll poke my nose in the CR-1 forum, and I'll usually glance at Off-topic every day or so...but the Canada forum really rocks. It fulfills all my message board needs. :)

I mainly stick to the Canada portal. Once in a while I check the home page for "hot" topics. Reading everyone not dealing with the Montreal consulate making so much progress can be sort of depressing. Happy for them (of course), but depressing.

I troll CR-1 and a few others...but I get confused because it is posters from all countries and the procedures and info seem to vary Consulate to Consulate and country to country....and I am just not smart enough to figure it out...so I stick to the Canadian forum...besides...with the exception of a select few.....I have to admit...Canadians seem more helpful and friendly and less to jump on the "OP is obviously a retard" wagon!!

I know! That's one of the reasons I don't go there much anymore either. When you see many people complaining because their interview date isn't convenient for them and want to reschedule, you raise your hackles a bit... Plus seeing people from less developed countries get their interview dates within two weeks is downright disheartening, when it's typically at least three MONTHS for any Canadian to get scheduled...

I think the Canadian forum is pretty comfortable. Maybe it's because we're similar to Americans?

The cultural differences aren't as great, and the people here are less religious. People pass interviews because you tell the truth, not because your god made it happen! And we all get on well with our mates/spouses - no age, language, cultural barriers.

I remember the first few months here I particularly remember Krikit, trailmix, Kathryn41 as some of the nicer mods whose tones were professional and not condescending. There were other VJers offering advice but they were so condescending to people. When I realized they were Canadian, it felt pretty nice. I like how the above three people use emoticons to soften their responses, and they don't make nasty remarks. Feels nice to have these chaperones in the Canadian forum!

I used to stick with the K-1 and OT threads a lot when I first joined VJ. But now just seem to stick with just the Canada forum. Although I love meeting new people, and it doesn't matter what nationality they're from...it's just that this forum makes me feel closer to home...

Just as a side note; I got all nostalgic and looked at pic's from home..... wish I had taken more, and more videos...

What does OP mean? I see it often and haven't found a good definition of it. I have figured out a good number of the other abbreviations. Some are just elusive.

As for what I read, I have to say, I am glad my fiance' is a Canadian. Reading about the other country hassles at the consulate where the K-1 visas are more likely denied just gets depressing (Casablanca comes to mind). I know I have to wait for my fiance' to get his Montreal interview but I think our ducks are in a row so it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I just figured out the Portal thing and that is nice to see what other Canadians/Significant others of Canadians are posting about. I also read they K-1 forum (especially the October filers from California Service Center (since I am one) and the September filers from California Service Center (since I was waiting for them to get their NOA2's before me)). The Canadian regional forum has so much information and is really useful! Like the EI thread, it reduced my concerns over him waiting for his EAD and then having to wait to find a job by leaps and bounds.

Trailmix isn't a mod.

She sure FEELS like a mod sometimes, and a great one at that...but nope, she's just a poster who is very organized and knowledgeable about the process!

Kathryn and Krikit are both excellent mods, and wonderful PEOPLE. You can just tell. Hope that doesn't come across as brownnosing, as I'm truly not the brownnosing type...but it just deserves to be repeated.

I pretty much just stick around in here - because by and large I like the folks in the Canada forum!

I do occasionally wander in to OT, very rarely, if I see a topic that catches my interest. I look at the Canada portal for new posts by Canadians in any forum, to see if I can answer a question and I also look at the IR1/CR1 and NVC threads, but pretty much I just stay here.

It's funny, when I first joined there was very little posting going on in the Canada forum, I would look in here and think...oh Canada ghost town!

i used to be a CR1 in the upper forums girl and then I was OT for a while but it's a little much for me and now? I am Canadian all the way -- I just feel comfortable and accepted here. I sometimes read the Russian/Phils thread just for laughs (sorry no offense) and I read the effects of major family changes for the drama but I find it more depressing than not.

I search all the threads on occasion to see if there's anything I should know about but mainly? I stick to Canada...

Mostly the Canadian section.

OT sometimes and AOS a bit.

I usually look at every new topic or ones that are posted in recently in case it's interesting or I can answer something.
