Good? Yes. Paid for? No. You know, the now all so fiscally conservative crowd wasn't all that fiscally conservative when they happened to run the show. I'd suspect they'd drop that fiscally conservative mantle right quick were they to run it again. History bears that out quite impressively.

Exactly! Which is why what they are doing now is being obstructionists. They want Obama to fail even at the peril of the country's best interests.

oh give it a rest, did they want bill c to fail? yes! did the dems want bush to fail? yes!

it goes without saying that they would want the other side to fail.

i think "what's his name on here (##&)*@&()&*#)" said it best, the US likes incremental change. huge, all at once, change scares americans, because they don't trust the people in washinton and they don't trust any "estimates" that come out of washington. considering the numbers are so big in HC, i think most americans prefer incremental changes to HC.

now, this is coming from someone who wanting HC reform to pass coz i don't care how much they spend in washington these days.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

You didn't read the piece quoted in the OP, did you? Those that could have put her into office stayed home. I'd suspect they didn't stay home for what you erroneously refer to as a far left agenda being pushed but for the lack of that happening.

Or maybe they stayed home because they don't want to be forced to buy health insurance?

Trillion dollar deficits are not in the country's best interests.

Look at number of filibusters. What does that tell you?

The Real Story of the 110th Congress: The Right-Wing Block-And-Blame Game

As the 110th Congress nears its close, the impact of a record-breaking campaign of obstruction by a conservative minority in the Senate is now more clear than ever. The right-wing strategy of "block and blame" has driven the public perception of a "do-nothing Congress." In reality, the 110th Congress would have achieved truly landmark accomplishments—including safely bringing the troops home from Iraq, reducing America's dependence on foreign oil and its contribution to global warming, and funding long-neglected domestic priorities—had it not been for conservative obstruction.

Our October 2008 block-and-blame analysis cuts through the political spin. We document how what is being reported as political stalemate is really the product of a conservative political strategy, both in Congress and the White House, to sabotage the new majority in Congress as it responds to the mandate it received from the American public—even if it means bringing down public support for the entire Congress in the process.

yes it is. the people are tired of the dems BS. so they voted a republican into office.

You keep grasping at that, yet the results of this election don't bear that out. Obama and many democrats in the last cycle won because they got the youth vote to turn out in huge numbers. They didn't capitalize on that in the brown/coakley election, so brown won. Quite simple, yet seems beyond your grasp.

Nobody here can speak for everyone. It's a matter of statistics. Martha Coakley ran an aweful campaign. She had like 10 negative ads towards Scott Brown. I'm not surprised. However, the implementation for SCHIP Health Program statewide was signed into law by Republican Governor Mitt Romney, and he also signed into law state wide that everyone must have health insurance. So, we can't say not every Republican go against Health Reform. It's really a case by case basis.

Of course.

Tea parties = nutters/racists/etc

Democrats lost in New Jersey = accident

Democrats lost in Virginia = coincidence, nothing to worry about

Democrats lost in Massachusetts = blame the youths

Who's grasping?

Don't know where to start there, but I'll give it a shot. A lot of tea party supporters are just plain hysterical. Democrats lost in New Jersey because they ran a lesser candidate. Corzine was hugely unpopular and for good reason. The Virginia loss, I thought was fairly obvious, and was in line with trends in that state for the past 3 decades. Now on to Massachusetts, which seemed quite clear from the OP, maybe you can read it again. Democrats simply didn't have the voter turnout that they had in the last cycle. Seems quite simple to me, don't know why so many can't seem to grasp taht.

Right - all losses were completely accidental and nothing to do with their policies.

i'd say obama is president at a really bad time and so i'm not sure a apples to apples comparison is possible.

Where did I state that it was accidental? I thought making sh!t up was BY's posting style

Accidental in the sense of being a one-off "lesser candidate", i.e. an accident.

Two's a coincidence, three's a pattern - and the pattern is "voting for the other team",

regardless of the candidate.

It's ok, you can be in denial - at least until Nov 2, 2010
