Hello everyone. I posted new topics a couple times before asking for advice. I'm back! :)

My fiance's Pakistani and I'm a USC. I'd like to know:

1. Can we file for K1 and still travel internationally during the process? For example, we are planning a trip to a 3rd country in March and my fiance will need a visa for most or all other countries he'd want to visit.

2. If, for some reason, he comes here on the K1 and we don't get married, are there any ramifications? Is that against the law?

3. If we get the K1 is it expected that he stay here after we marry or will he be allowed to move back to Pakistan? I'm thinking it's better if he comes over once he gains employment, but not sure how realistic that is.

3. I'm confused about the asset guidelines for me. The income guideline seems self explanatory, but how much worth of assets do I need to have? I'm very worried about this necessity and if I need a co-sponsor I'm not sure whom I should ask.

On a personal note, I've been feeling very hopeless lately regarding the visa process. Obviously it is a very difficult thing, taking time, energy, patience, intelligence and, seemingly, a good dose of luck, hope and faith. There are so many things to consider and I am very confused at this time. I'd really like some support and I know this is the right place to go for it. I've been reading a lot of posts/topics so I am learning a lot - almost too much because it's hard to remember everything! I wanted to reach out to you guys in the past few days but didn't know where to start. I'd love to interact with people on Yahoo Messenger, MSN, or AIM so PM me if you'd like to exchange IDs.

I'm particularly interested in interacting with couples in which one is a Pakistani citizen (or was). That doesn't mean I don't want to talk to anyone else! I definitely do, but encourage Pakistani/USC couples to reach out to me if they'd like.

Thanks very much.

1. You can travel. For you (the USC) make sure you have someone check your mail in case you get any RFE or other papers about the process while you are away. For him, AFTER the interview they may keep his passport for a few weeks, but that is a long time away yet.

2. As long as he leaves before his 90 days to parry are up, there won't be any ramifications other than a few extra questions should either of you apply for a visa again.

3. It is expected that he stay; the K1 is to ultimately immigrate to the USA (even though technically it is a non-immigrant visa). If he leaves before he gets AP or his greencard, you will need to start afresh with a spousal visa. Once he has his greencard he can leave for visits to Pakistan- or anywhere else- but he must remain legally resident in the USA, ie spend more time within the US than outside of it.

4. If you make enough income, you don't need to list any assets, even if you have them.

What is AP? I know it stands for Administrative Processing, but in this case, it must be different.

Thanks for the info![/color]

AP= advance parole. Document that permits the foreign to travel while waiting for the AOS process to be finished.
