Hello to my VJ family:)

This topic is for you guys and gals who are currently with their partners in the US. But all other thoughts are welcome as well:)

I am currently on my fourth month of being in a LDR with my husband in CA :( He came in the Philippines to see me last Christmas and stayed 'til the New Year... and once again *sighs* left for the United States :(

Our visa application is still being processed and I know it will be 7-9 more months ( or less God willing) before I will be with him...

I know I'm getting really sentimental right now. I really miss my hubby...:(

Our communication is by constant phone, email and chat. We also send each other photos. I guess what I miss most from everything is his physical presence and the (we're all mature individuals here) the intimacy :(

I just wanted to know how did you guys have kept the love alive within the months you've not been together. How did you survive the long-distance relationship before being finally with your husband/wife/fiancee/fiance/boyfriend/girlfriend?

I hope you can share your stories. Thanks so much.

Cheers.

----VISA JOURNEY ENDS----

It is great to love, but also guard your heart...

As I started to picture the trees in the storm, the answer began to dawn on me. The trees in the storm don't try to stand up straight and tall and erect. They allow themselves to bend and be blown with the wind. They understand the power of letting go. Those trees and those branches that try too hard to stand up strong and straight are the ones that break. Now is not the time for you to be strong, Julia, or you, too, will break.

Take this time to grow as a couple. Hazel, and I used skype every night. It is a long process with it's ups and downs, but in the end. The time you spend apart without the "intimacy" helps making you best friends.

Its just normal for LDRs to have ups and downs in between. PATIENCE, PATIENCE, PATIENCE has always been a very good asset to keep your relationship standing still. Look things on the brighter side, time flies by, make use of the time loving your partner more. Be creative in showing your love to him/ her, and like any other relationships, the more challenges you have surpassed together, the stronger the relationship will be.

That's wonderful! My husband (my fiance then) was deployed in Iraq for most of the time we were preparing to send our packet (we wanted to wait until he was back in the U.S. to file - just to get everything set up and ready for when I got here; especially moving in to our house). It was so hard when he would be gone for days - he called or emailed me the minute he got back and I could never explain the relief I felt... I will never forget what we had to go through just to be together. =')

You're absolutely right. Thank you for making me realize that :) I mean I know he is my bestfriend, but being apart from each other will make both of us realize how precious we are to each other...

First, obviously, being apart was the most painful. :crying: We were so happy and complete during the times together and the times apart we both felt miserable, desperate and consumed by angst, emptiness and living half dead. :dead:

When we first joined VJ, we observed that CSC applicants were being processed much faster than VSC. That made us feel aggravated and perplexed as to why VSC was taking so long. In fact, most CSC applicants were processed in less than 4 mos. and VSC gave us our NOA2 at 6 months and 5 days. We then got stuck at nvc (AP) for 3 1/2 weeks, next, a long week to be in the USEM system, a quick interview date only to find out a sputum exam was required (ouch!). The whole visa journey took almost a year from start to finish.

Fortunately for us, my husband was able to make multiple trips to be with me which helped us cope during the separation. My husband would return to the states to work his a$$ off :bonk: and return home to me as quickly as possible. In fact, my husband would usually come back every 3-5 weeks.

During the times apart we would...chat via ym every morning every evening, abused our cp and landline budget  , sms or txt each other the events of our day while the other slept (this helped us feel more together). I was always happy to wake and see my cp was overloaded with 20-30 new messages.

To advise another...communicate obsessively, use the the waiting time to discuss every aspect of your relationship and express your love for each other with reckless abandon!!!

Hang in there, the time will pass and when you are finally together the pain will be forgotten. I've been here four months now and we're still honeymooning! (F)(L):star::dancing::devil:

Gosh :o I'd super relate to that as well! There was one time he didn't call for almost a day and I'd panic! It turned out to be something I shouldn't be worried about.

*sighs* Talk about me being paranoid.

----->>Very true. It feels like a part of you's lost. I felt this one the first time he left for the US. It took a while before we let each other go in the airport. And then the crying. Oh :S

----->>The Christmas 'til New Year trip to Manila was my hubby's second time to see me. He was supposed to be here early December but had to change his schedule at a later date due to business concerns. My dear hubby told me if only he could jump on a plane and be with me whenever he would please--but that's not possible. Of course, I want him here more often, but he has to take care of stuff their as well for us...so I understand if he can't...

We have been together since Dec. 2005. I just got here Dec. 2009. It's really tough to be away from each other. He visited 7 times and the longest time we've been apart was like 9 months. We chat every day morning and evening using Skype. It worked for us since I was on a night shift so I'm awake during his daytime and we sleep just about the same time. We talked about everything. We sent each other emails even I was in the office (I got 4541 emails). We used the time to know each other really well despite of not being together. I'm thankful that we have this kind of technology coz it will be more tough if we do snail mails. Always communicate with each other and show ur partner how much you love him or her.
