Bag can't be over 20 kilos without a extra charge - although mine was 21 and they didn't charge me. Thats pretty heavy, i don't think you'll be over...

I think the extra charge is 200 or 2000 I forget that number

It would be best not to attempt to bring pirated DVD. Odds are that they won't search your bag, but it could happen. You could be fined or confined for bringing illegal stuff into the USA or any other transit country.

PAL will serve free food and drinks on the flight, but its never a good idea to have NO CASH. Please bring a few thousand pesos with you. You can always send the extra back to your family.

Hope this helps

6.what are the important things i need to know in my us flight this jan 22 ?

1. airlines officially allow 2 pieces of luggage weighing 23 kgs each (have to be equal, not 40 and 6kgs or 20 and 26kg)

charge per kilo of excess is crazy, from $50 to infinity so weigh your luggage beforehand

2. terminal fee is still P1620

3. what do you mean by "tax-free already" (does not include tax?, -then you need to also pay P750 (airport tax)

4. although those (pinoy dvds) will play here, you'd be safer not to bring them here if you don't want the risk of being deported at the POE, it's not worth it

5. during the flight you'll probably need to spend only for food while waiting for your flight (P200) and connecting flight later on P 2000 (change money to dollar $50) this is a safe minimum since you prefer leaving your money with your family but

6. be early (so you don't miss your flight), be alert (so you don't get lost or lose things), be smart (read instructions everywhere at the airtport, forms to fill out), dress decent (whatever your definition of decent is is OK), and enjoy (relax)

Wear something really comfy (I wore white T-shirt, jogging pants and rubber shoes during my flight) and get your jacket ready because temperature may be unpredictable in the duration of your travel.

Be punctual in order to catch your flight.

Keep a lip balm or chapstick in your handcarry purse and also a very small bottle of lotion. If you want, you could include a pack of pantyliners and extra panties in your handcarry purse.

Rest as much as you can while flying and put on your best look as you meet your man (that is, if he's not picking you up from the Philippines and would only meet you at your POE).

Hakuna matata.

Travel safely.

God bless us constantly.

As for cash, I brought $ 100 (USD) and something like Php 2, 500 although my travel tax was already paid. The cash was there because I had a stop in Hongkong for 5-6 hours. I spent $ 9 (USD) in Hongkong.

If your travel tax is taken care of, convert some of your pesos to dollars. Is PAL flying nonstop? If that's the case, you should just be fine. The only things you have to pay for in peso are the taxi fare to NAIA (if you'd have a taxi to drive you there), terminal fee (Php 750) and snacks inside the airport while waiting for your flight.

I agree about NOT bringing the pirated DVD's. You do not want to give ANYONE any excuse to not allow you entry at your POE.

Remember, after all this time and trouble to obtain it, all the Visa really, actually does, is give you the opportunity to meet with the CBP agent for him to decide to let you in the US or not. Really, that is all the entitlement that the visa provides you.

Happy Travels!

Speaking only for myself I would say to take 750 PHP and enough to get a bottle of water once in the terminal at the airport. You can bring snacks with you, but many may have to throw some out once you get to the US. Bring US Dollars which will be good at any layover airport and great once you get in the USA. Maybe $20-$30. When I got here with a 100 PHP bill I sent it back to my Asawa and they took it out of the letter???!!!!

Happy travels

Welcome to the U.S.!

My POE last year was also LAX but it was very fast and easy.

I had my Globe roaming service activated beforehand so I could text my then fiance. I didn't get stuck on a queue upon my arrival and the immigration officers were very cool. It was a perfect night.

Anyway, welcome to the U.S.!

How do we know if the travel tax has been payed or not? I booked on an online travel agency and in the bill there's like 70 dollars in tax total for the whole one way flight.

Travel tax is being paid at the airport, that 70 dollars is your tax for buying the ticket.
