Question 1 doesn't make any sense. Answer needs to be more or less, not yes or no.

Copy that, poll adjusted......

Would you prefer more or less government?

I voted "more" because I strongly believe in a government role in areas in which said role does not exist today. For example, in providing universal access (i.e. not just to the 65+ and poor) to healthcare. Another area I'd like to see dramatically expanded is our foreign intelligence capabilities.

That said, there is room for government to shrink as well. The shrinkage may or may not fully offset the health care expansion I'd like to see.

Areas in which I think our government could be smaller?

1 - The military: draw down all those WW2 and Cold War relic overseas bases. Focus on a more defensive role. Limit humanitarian missions to disasters in the Western Hemisphere. 2 - Public schools: education can be provided just as well by the private sector. Vouchers with state-mandated curriculum guidelines should suffice. Tear down K-12 teacher tenure and as a larger effort (going beyond public schools) bring public sector benefits in line with those offered by the private sector. 3 - Legalize marijuana. Lay off law enforcement personnel and reduce prison space as appropriate.

For the other two questions, I voted yes, but the truth is it depends :) If more government comes in the form of an evil dictatorship then of course not.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
