So we've got the approved k-1 visa , fiancee coming in April. Any forms that she needs apart from whats in that envelope they told her not to open until she arrived ?

She's specifically wondering if she needs to have her birth certificate translated.

Thanks.

Yes. Since you studied the process before petitioning your fiancee, you know she will have to file for AOS after you are married including a translated birth certifcate and LOTS of other forms. She will need nothing more than what she has now to ENTER the USA, but she will need lots more to file the AOS. Read the AOS guiodes and study the sample forms at this site.

First of all, congratulations

Here are some things that we found helpful in bringing to the US:

My husband's 'certificado de estudios', basically his education records. He enrolled in the community college & needed this document. We had it translated here for $20.

An extra birth certificate. If you can get it translated over there great, but the town hall would only accept a translated copy by one of their registered translators for when we applied for the marriage license, so we had him do it. It was $30.

ANYTHING you can think of that would be helpful in the future, it's always easier for her to get it now. Medical records if she has had any past complications in her country, etc. It just makes it easier, because otherwise you have to hire a lawyer in Peru, pay them sign affidavits, it's crazy.

oooh Very important!!!

Also remember, the form DS-3025 - you can use this to apply for AOS once in the states. The doctor that did your medical exam should have given you a copy. If they didn't tell your fiancee to request a copy from them. This will save you a trip to a civil surgeon and another fee that could go up to $200

If you need any help with anything, feel free to PM me.

Buena suerte,

Suzy
