You are comparing apples to oranges. Wilson is talking stock and you're talking modified. Nick there is only one way to prove a 4.6 time. The reason your car is "slow" is that the suspension is probably not tuned and the smaller engines make big hp but not much torque and the powerband is very high. Torque talks as the old saying goes. The supercharged LS9 6.2L in the new ZR1 puts out 638hp and 604 lb-ft of torque. It also has a 0-60 time of 3.3 secs. The engine doesn't have to rev into the stratosphere to move the car. Now if only someone had a 2009 ZR-1 to see if the 0-60 time is accurate.

My memory is going to hell, "The available 320 hp twin-turbo charged engine could achieve 0-60 mph speeds in a mere 5.3 seconds." But hey, who is going to try that with tires running over 400 bucks each now. Not me, don't have that kind of money to burn and burning really fits into this scenario. Have seen some Supras that were pounded to hell and at the current price of replacement parts running over ten times the price that originally made the car, not worth fixing.

Lexus's $350,000 Sports Car, 10 cylinders... 552 horsepower.. wow!

Pffft. There's only one true super sports car out there - the Bugatti Veyron. It's 8.0 liter W16 engine produces 1001 HP and takes it to a top speed of 253mph. 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds, 0-100 mph in 5.5 seconds, 0-150 mph in 9.8 seconds and it takes under 19 seconds to reach 200mph. You could put 4 of these pimped up Toyota toys into your garage for what you'd have to shell out for this true super sports car.

Watch it smoke a McLaren here...

Well, the Veyron costs a little bit more than $350k, so not exactly a fair comparison...

A Ford Focus or a Chevy Cobalt would cost that much if produced in small enough quantities. Still the same old stuff when looking out the window, four wheels, and engine, and 55 mph. And not much will be left of these way overpriced toys if they hit a tree. If I could spend that kind of money, well could if I sold my home, would prefer to buy something that flies. No cops up there.

I'd hate to own a car like that, but I am sure, like many, I would find it fun to drive (always assuming I could stay on the road and achieve the speeds/accelerations that these trained professionals manage ) The best place to experience this would be on a closed track, safer for everyone and probably a lot more fun

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Wonder about the depreciation of these things, dealer is loaded with $350K motorhomes, but see the same ones a year old with a few miles on them for less than half that price. More like a third of that price.

Considering they won't let just anyone buy it, you probably have to sign an agreement that you won't resell it without consent of the dealer. Otherwise, if I had $350K to burn, I would buy one and re-sell it for $1 to someone who couldn't pay much more for it, just to thwart their elitist plan of trying to make sure that only the "right" people drive this car.

But yeah, I doubt you could resell a luxury car for even a 1/3 of it's value even if you never drove it. Unless it becomes some sort of collector's item. Then, who knows.

Tires are expensive. Those super sticky compounds wear out fast and the high-speed autobahn tires are at least $500 each. If you drive a stick and grenade the transmission, that's a bit more change; whether you use a ZF, Jericho, Borg-Warner, Muncie, Aisan or whatever. Powershifting is fun unless miss a shift or over rev. That's $5K-$8K right there. Autos are a bit better but still. A replacement engine for a fast car is at least $15K, though probably $25K -$100K is more likely. The u-joints fail, rear axle/diffential can have its own set of problems.

Going fast costs money, how fast did you want to go?
