My I-129F K1 has been sitting at the NVC since Jan 14. I called and said they need additional processing but they dont need anything from me. Is this normal? When looking at recent timelines, it appears most K-1 petitions only sit at the NVC for 2-3 days. Why is mine sitting?

Today is the fourth business day that your petition has been at NVC. Try to be patient.

NVC performs additional background/name checks before forwarding the petition to the applicible Embassy. This can take from several days to several weeks to complete. Also - don't forget that MLK Day occurred where ALL Federal offices are closed, so you lost a day of processing for the holiday.

If the name/background checks clear your file should be on it's way soon...

Yea. I hold a security clearance, which should give them the green on me. Fiancee has already gotten visa from home country to Canada, so hopefully this gets zoomed through. Thanks all.

If it is actually in AP, expect a month at NVC..

If this is the case, why do i see a wealth of peoples timelines dictating their petition was in and out in 2-5 days tops? What am i missing or failing to see here? I thought the I-130's sit at the NVC for extended periods of time, not the I-129.

"Sitting" for FOUR DAYS?????? It is typical for the NVC to take 1 week to 8 weeks to process a petition. How on earth do you get the idea "most" only "sit" for 2-3 days? Calling NVC is about as useless as calling USCIS.

This is just a few that i took the time to record. I do admit i jumped the gun after only 4 business days, but i wasnt counting it that way, i was counting 14th to the 20th, which is outside the recent average for a I-129F. At least according to everyones timelines. Yours apparently only took 5 business days. I will be patient, but i was simply going off the timelines. There are rare cases it seems where it took more than 10 days.
