So far, for me food has taken the longest to adjust to. In the UK, I am used to having had a variaty of frozen meals available (most of which taste good). Here in the US, I have had the misfortune of buying some really disgusting foods. It makes me weary to experiment when some of these products are so terrible I cannot bring myself to eat.

I used to like Tesco's lasagna, if I got stuck with a long shift at work I would pick up one of those, it gave me something to look forward to. Hungry Man on the other hand should come with a health warning. Not only does it taste like dog food it has an entire day's worth of salt intake in there.

Bumping thread since I think this would be the best place.

Today we went to a much bigger Kroger then our usual one and found a few things. They have a international section, and we found treacle, spotted #######, and aero bars regular and mint, coffee crisp. They have alot more yummies but I can't remember all. They had a very large section almost a full 2 isle for the all the international foods. It was a much bigger store then the one we normally go to and sorta out of the way, but I am glad we went to it.

Well, it's too bad we don't have Kroger here in New Jersey...

Yep bigger Kroger has the international aisle and you can get plenty of stuff from all around the world.

If any of you are in Tx Mrs. Baird's is good bread.

hahahah I think I was other way around I hated bread in UK, not for taste but it would get spoilt really fast like in 2-3 day my spread used to get molded.

This was the first thing I noted over there. They have no idea just how sugary their bread is. Yuck. And orange juice was nasty. Also I don't know what is goin on with the yogurt. I think I am going to have to cut a lot of things out if I want to stay healthy.

I noticed the yogurt tasted weird right away when we first moved here. I realized it had to be the High fructose corn syrup in it that made it taste funny. Not only did it taste weird but it makes my tongue tingle and not in a good way. We have found that almost all the brand names use it. The Kroger brand not the Kroger value one but the regular Kroger brand does not have HFCS in the mixed fruit yogurt. If you look for the Greek yogurt you probably would like that one better. No HFCS in em but they do use corn syrup so I am not sure weather it still would be too sweet, as I can no longer eat anything with corn in it my body has had enough from being here so I haven't tried it.

I noticed that too, although I wasn't very sure why it tasted so off. I thought it was just that I hadn't found the right brand yet. I didn't normally eat too much yogurt back in England, and I was always a bit fussy about which types I preferred, so I figured it was just me. I did find one or two brands that were decent, though for the most part I've just avoided yogurt and tried to go for something else instead.

LOL - Kroger also has mushy peas. I remembered after I posted.

As for yogurt, I don't eat alot of it. My kid barely touch it now too, and they used to eat it alot. I really haven't thought much about making it. I make everything else, so why not yogurt. I will have to look into it at some point.

so much stuff here has HFCS in it, and it just tastes nasty. I was thinking today of the commercial on TV that is advertising that HFCS is good in moderation...just like everything else. Problem being, it is in so much stuff that it is almost impossible to eat it in moderation....lol

I agree, and I think its the reason that I now have an allergy to corn. I never had any food allergies back in Canada.
