Well, if he can dribble with his #######, then I'd really be impressed. :jest:

Is that necessary?

Ask the fundamentalists, they like that sort of thing.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

What about Jesse Jackson or good-old ‘Alfread’ “Al” Sharpton?

What is 'fundamental basketball' and now does it differ from 'street-ball?' Any of you lily whites know the answer?

The article says a bit about that. Lewis wants an alternative to what he calls "street" basketball, by which he means behaviours such as players bringing guns to the locker room, as well flipping the bird and grabbing their crotches..

I'm betting they bless the ball, and have praise be slogans. Hallelujah!

Why the religion bashing? There's not a word about religion in the article.

MC, I don't know why you feels the need to bring religion into this. Neither racism nor the original article have anything to do with the religion, the Bible, or Christianity. Maybe you should look up fundamental in the dictionary. The word doesn't have anything to do with religion.

The organization is obviously ridiculous but so are many of the all black organizations that frequently are seen as mainstream and acceptable. I recently realized that I am actually a member of all races. I always check all the boxes.

I feel the need

What you *** haterz constantly fail to understand is that black people were barred from so many aspects of society that they HAD to introduce their own organizations in order to compete with their fellow caucasion citizens and at least stand a chance at success against institutionalized racism. Now, I understand that it ruffles your feathers to call things 'black this' and 'black that' but the reality is, these organizations have recognized that talents of the black people in American society, promoted their aims and ambitions and helped to level the playing field. Whether now, they are superfluous is a good question, but judging by the OP article and this thread, I'd say not yet. Praise be!

maybe not, don't forget, the guy with the largest ####### in the world is white. who would have thought? LOL

Hey that guy just got fired, and is looking for a new job?

Bargis Tryhol, The man with the World's Largest #######, was recently fired from his job at Dunkin' Whitehead's Bakery and Donut Shop.

Owner Whitehead reportedly was infuriated when Tryhol was caught red-handed filling Bravarian Creme-filled donuts in a most inappropriate way!

Tryhol, who ranks as the largest ####### owner in the Guiness Book, had no comment when reporters questioned him about the charges today, but grape jelly stains on his fly comfirmed the manager's assertions.

customer had been complaining of a foul taste in recent weeks and Whitehead did many things including changing the batter recipe and renewing the frying oil more often in hopes of pleasing longtime customers.

It was the sudden increase in purchases by the nuns at St. Agnes of the Trench nunnery that first caught Whitehead's attention. The five-fold increase of Bravarian-Creme-filled donuts were selling out by 9AM every day.

Tryhol has vowed to wage a fight by picketing the shop with signs and a megaphone, but states he's entertaining an offer by the nuns to become the nunnery's offical donut maker.

Doesn't matter if a white org. is racist, then so is a black one. You can't have double standards. I didn't own slaves and none of my ancestors did.

Just because a white organization is racist does not mean that a black organization is. How puerile!

Which is completely irrelevant to the argument as to why there are organizations that promote black people in order to counterbalance systemic racism. Oh, but then it's you, so why would I be surprised that you don't GET IT???

Nice try MC, Most of these groups have come about long after that historic period was past.

Truth is these -single race associations are growing by the year.

Not just groups but websites, dating clubs, Magazines, daycare centers, you name it they are all flourishing and growing and virtually none of their members have any such history you speak of.

How do you do that? Really? The OP article is about something really very creepy and somehow you manage to turn it around to be a 'black' problem.

A lot of people like to look at things in a superficial way, which is why they don't understand context or distinction. It also explains the appeal of ham fisted and bone headed talk show commentators who "tell it like it is".

No cure for stupid.

There is no need for a 'white only' basket ball league. There is no such thing as 'fundamental basketball'.

Not to mention white people are not being excluded from current basketball because of their skin tone.

Black Caucus: Whites Not Allowed

By: Josephine Hearn

January 22, 2007 01:01 PM EST

As a white liberal running in a majority African American district, Tennessee Democrat Stephen I. Cohen made a novel pledge on the campaign trail last year: If elected, he would seek to become the first white member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

Now that he's a freshman in Congress, Cohen has changed his plans. He said he has dropped his bid after several current and former caucus members made it clear to him that whites need not apply.

"I think they're real happy I'm not going to join," said Cohen, who succeeded Rep. Harold Ford, D-Tenn., in the Memphis district. "It's their caucus and they do things their way. You don't force your way in. You need to be invited."

Cohen said he became convinced that joining the caucus would be "a social faux pas" after seeing news reports that former Rep. William Lacy Clay Sr., D-Mo., a co-founder of the caucus, had circulated a memo telling members it was "critical" that the group remain "exclusively African-American."

Other members, including the new chairwoman, Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, D-Mich., and Clay's son, Rep. William Lacy Clay, D-Mo., agreed.

"Mr. Cohen asked for admission, and he got his answer. ... It's time to move on," the younger Clay said. "It's an unwritten rule. It's understood. It's clear."

The bylaws of the caucus do not make race a prerequisite for membership, a House aide said, but no non-black member has ever joined.

Rep. Pete Stark, D-Calif., who is white, tried in 1975 when he was a sophomore representative and the group was only six years old.

"Half my Democratic constituents were African American. I felt we had interests in common as far as helping people in poverty," Stark said. "They had a vote, and I lost. They said the issue was that I was white, and they felt it was important that the group be limited to African Americans."

Cohen remains hopeful, though, that he can forge relationships with black members in other ways.

"When I saw the reticence, I didn't want anyone to misunderstand my motives. Politically, it was the right thing to do," he said. "There are other ways to gain fellowship with people I respect."

Cohen won his seat in the 60 percent black district as the only white candidate in a crowded primary field. If he faces a primary challenge next year from a black candidate, as expected, some Black Caucus members may work to defeat him.

A similar situation arose in 2004 after redistricting added more black voters to the Houston district of former Rep. Chris Bell, D-Texas.

Although House tradition discourages members of the same party from working against each other, about a dozen black lawmakers contributed to Bell's opponent, Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, the eventual victor. Even Bell's Houston neighbor, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, campaigned against him.

One black member who criticized his colleagues for sandbagging Bell was Cohen's predecessor, Harold Ford.

"You have an incumbent, and you don't support an incumbent? It was inappropriate," Ford told Congressional Quarterly in 2004.

Cohen has won high marks for hiring African Americans. A majority of his staff is African American, he said, including his chief of staff.
