Hi everyone,

after reading 100's of posts here and at other visa related sites, I prepared for our DCF filing at Bucharest. there is a lot of useful information on these forums which I found very helpful in my preparation, but corresponding with the embassy directly helped in clearing a lot of the confusion.

here's what happened:

14 January 2010, 1400 hour appointment at the embassy to submit my petition for my Romanian wife. Items brought with:

I-130 petition

1 ea G-325A for myself, and 1 ea G-325A for my wife

2 ea passport sized color photographs ( 1 of me, 1 of my wife)

1 ea copy of my passport & residency card

1 ea copy of my wife's passport

Notarized and translated copies of the following: my wife's birth certificate, my previous divorce decree (divorced in Germany.. German language, hence translation.

Notarized copy of my birth certificate

Notarized copy of our marriage certificate

Proof of relationship consisting of copy of one joint bank account, and 420 pictures in 3 albums documenting our life together.

and of course.. all related originals

OK, here we go.... entered the embassy, was searched and then sent to a counter for submittal of documents. Embassy staff reviewed and verified originals and copies, then gave my wife a DS-230 form to fill out, and sent me to the cashier to pay the required 355 USD. returned with the receipt, helped my wife with the 230 form, then submitted both at the counter.. was told to take a seat while our case was being reviewed.

Approx 1-1.5 hours later was called to the counter and greeted by a US citizen embassy officer that asked the following questions.

So how did you meet?

how did you stay in touch?

asked what my wife planned to do in the US? work, school..etc.

when are you planning on moving to the US?

that was about it, except for some smalltalk about our vacations etc.

The embassy officer then stated your Petition has been approved, and handed my wife a packet containing the forms for the medical examination and an outline of the final steps needed, which consisted of more passport pictures, legalized copy of her birth certificate, police check and the form 864(affidavit of support).

she then stated that when we have those items to call the embassy for an appointment, and upon satisfaction my wife would obtain her visa the same day.

the staff @ the Bucharest Embassy was professional, helpful and courteous.

going next week for the final step.. I'll keep ya posted
