I haven't filed yet but I plan to do so before this month ends... I filled out the I-129F form and my fiance and I filled out our G-325A today... I obviously still have more things to gather to send with it, but hopefully we will get this done soon, within a few days. My plan is to send out the fiance visa petition before January is over.

wow this is the forum I need! I'm sending in my forms by friday. I want to put a deposit down on a wedding venue for mid July. Do you all think that would be safe to assume my fiance will be approved to come here by then? (we are sending to the california office)

I think you should check your case online on the citizenship and immigration website. You can put the location on where your process is at the moment. Its really easy that way you could know how long it should take. Usually the process takes from 6 to 9 months.
