Hi, everyone.

I've been seeing and reading this "case touched" a lot and I know that you have to log-in to the USCIS website to verify if your case was "touched".

What do they mean when they say that their case was "touched"? How would you be able to know if your case was "touched"? Do you need NOA1 or I-765 receipt notice of your case to be able to verify this online?

Please help me be enlightened. Thanks in advance.

You need to register your case online with the USCIS using your receipt number on your NOA for your I-485.

Go the USCIS website (link provided) and set up a customer account:

https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

You can enter the receipt numbers (from the NOAs) for AOS, EAD and AP so you can track them on line. You can also request to have email updates sent to you. When someone says that their case (AOS, EAD, etc) has been touched, that means they checked it online and saw that that the date changed under the "Last Updated' column. Most of the time there is no indication of what was done or that there is any change in status, but at least you know someone is working on it, and that's a good sign!

Don't get too excited about your case being touched. I think it means a lot less than we would all hope. I was touched 3 times in a week and am still twiddling my thumbs...I've heard nothing. And beware of the USCIS online status service - it's addictive (I check mine about 6 times a day and always get disappointed).

Heh only 6 times a day. Your showing restraint when i am sitting at the computer i check maybe twice and hour sometimes more. Sadly as you said only to be disappointed :( but one day oh yes one day i wont be :P although i'll probably get the email before the website check.

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Thank you for your responses.

It has already been a week since I sent my papers and they received it. The check was already encashed, and yet I still haven't gotten my NOA1 yet. Is it a standard thing for them to send you NOA to let you know that they have received your paperworks?

Thank you JenT for the link. It was useful.

You're welcome. There's a huge backlog of cases being processed now. It might be a month or more before you receive your NOA1.
